Think about being in RN's mother's position...

This will only make sense to those of us with children, but imagine being thousands of miles away from your child when he makes one of the biggest decisions of his life. AND, when he makes the decision his choice is not even one of those under consideration.
Momma said, "We never discussed Clemson", so this commitment caught her totally off guard and why she believes RN must have been pressured. If we take off the biased glasses and put ourselves in a position of having our teenage child make such an important decision without us there and more importantly without us even remotely discussing it, I think we would all feel slighted and possibly angry. In this case, Momma Nkemdiche is angry at the coaches and not her son.
Where we see a grown man defensive end, momma still sees a child. You look at almost any animal species and you see how protective mothers are. I know my wife would probably react the same way, she is certainly way more sensitive about any slight to our children than I am. His mom is acting out of love. She may be ignorant of the qualities of Clemson, but she is acting out of love nontheless.
Anyway, this was my long-winded way of saying those of you making disparaging remarks about RN's mom are only decreasing the odds of him sticking with his commitment. I assume most if not all those making such posts don't have kids or are kids themselves.

As the father of an athlete at a major D1 school, I am proud to say my child took 4 official visits then made their decision as to where they wanted to attend school. I am thankful my wife and I raised kids to be independent. There are 3 levels of parenting, first you teach, then you coach and then you are a cheerleader . I love being a cheerleader.

I disagree and have two children, one getting old enough to think about college. I believe it is her decision on where to go. I won't be going with her and it is most important that she feels right going there. BTW, dads with kids are just as protective as moms - especially with daughters!

Well said. I hope the Clemson family can win the heart and mind of the RN family; especially Mom.

I'm talking about making his family feel like wanting to be a part of the Clemson family.

His mother made a public statement to the media. At that point, it is no longer a private matter. In her position, I would have talked to my son first privately and kept it a family matter.

Best perspective I have heard. I do not have a kid yet but we are 10 weeks pregnant. People are so self centered these days that family just does not matter anymore. #### shame!

Guess I'm an idiot. I have two kids and totally disagree with the way she has handled. Of course, they live with us, not their high school coach so we might have a better feel for what they want and need.

His mother hasn't even seen him play a complete game

his entire life. She has choosen to live in another country thousands of miles away from her children. RN has a legal guardian that is on the staff at his HS. Do you really think mom is going to be a major player in where he goes to school? This whole story is being driven by AJC and they aren't going to tell the whole story because it doesn't fit there conclusion.
