When the dust settles on this round of TV contracts, I think

Jul 5, 2022, 9:40 AM

the SEC once again winds up on top of the money pile. Let's face it, they have THE best conference brand in football, like them or not.

From a Clemson point of view, being a member of the SEC is a no-brainer vs joining the BIG. Scheduling travel for all the low / NO revenue sports to far flung BIG venues would be a TREMENDOUS drain financially on the Athletic Department. And where would all that extra travel money have to come from? Football, of course.

So, from a financial bottom line, as well as a competition bottom line, the SEC would be the place for Clemson to be. I don't know that "It just means more", but it certainly makes more sense.

Those are all valid reasons for joining. I can't see the Clemson fanbase getting fired up to play Iowa or Nebraska on some sub-zero road trip to a frozen wasteland. Plus, there is no history with those teams.......just not enticing at all.

Plus, the SEC and BIG are talking about starting their own CFP....that would leave Clemson out of the picture entirely.

The ACC is on life support and the machine is about to be unplugged. We have to make a move, IMO.

Screw Calford.

It is not up to fans or even our President. It will be up to receiving and invitation and winning court. The ACC is not going anywhere.

I have to wonder if establishing a women’s softball program and the gymnastics program is not somehow related to conference realignment for Clemson.
