What's missing from Spurrier's comments

Spurred is a master deflector.
He should have said 'We choked against Tennessee, a SEC team that narrowly lost by 50+ to Oregon, and missed our shot at the SEC championship, National championship, and a BCS game.'
Their fans should be livid that they missed the SEC championship, and potentially the national championship.
But I am awfully glad they did.

If losing to Tennessee is so embarrassing, how much worse is it to lose to the team that lost to Tennessee?

Oh it is. Losing to a bunch of losers is always embarrassing but winning an Orange Bowl and having Nut Sack trolled on tv is priceless.

To be fair, UGA was good early, and played well at DV even with two starting DB's suspended for that game. They should have been favored over SC at home. I do not consider that a bad loss on the road. The UT loss was a bad one, but again, on the road and by 3 points after a miracle catch to a team that actually played ok most of the year and has plenty of NFL talent is not over the top bad. Both CU and SC had great years and both deserved to play in a great Bowl. Hopefully both will be top ten ranked in final polls. I am proud of the state of CFB in SC right now. This is a great state, and though small in population shows well against the big programs around the country lately. The whole State of SC should be proud of their two major programs. Yes, let the rivalry be strong and spirited, but be proud of each other. Sports are about many things, competition, rivalry, school pride and sportsmanship. Sometimes sportsmanship takes a back seat, but in the end it is the most import aspect of collegiate athletics.

What fans don't realize is

that SC wouldn't have been ranked ahead of Bama if they had beat UT. They still would've played in the Capital One Bowl.
