Were about to find out the answer to THE question

that we’ve speculated about for 10 years. 2 questions really. Would Alabama try to hire Dabo? Would Dabo leave Clemson? I’ve always wondered about the Alabama clause in his contract. Did Clemson add the clause out of prudence? Or did Dabo tell Clemson that he would only leave for one job? Should be interesting.

Kiffen makes sense

But if Nick has any say in the matter he might veto. Kiffen did not leave AL under ideal conditions.I don’t know if there’s any hard feelings.

He doesn't have the guts or the consistency for that job.

I think there is something to be said for that. Given our three "down" years and our inability to adapt to the new transfer game, Bama might well think that Dabo's future is not bright enough for them.

Nah even if they wanted him, I don’t think he’d leave. It’s very hard to leave the baby that you built

Until the baby becomes a spoiled brat who scrutinizes everything. Regardless, I think the more likely scenario is him finishing out his contract and retiring rather than coach elsewhere.

You kinda have a point there. But the microscope seems much bigger at AL. I’m from AL and still live closeby. These folks are crazy down here for AL football. Tyler from Spartanburg would not even make a headline in Tuscaloosa. It’s hard core.

That’s what I mean, the scrutiny would be worse for Dabo there IMHO.

Are you saying if you were a title winning coach and your alma matter Clemson called, you wouldn’t take it in a heartbeat?

The answer to your first question will preclude getting the second question answered.

Like Dabo told Finebaum on 12-15-2015:

Dabo explained how Bama had abused his allegiance to them using his three experiences/stories of promises of a coaching job which all ended in Dabo sitting on his hands for months upon end.
I remember Finebaum's comments after Dabo's ~15 minute expose': "I suppose there's no reason to ask you if you'd ever return to Alabama...'
Dabo, being an humble man responded with 'I've learned to never say never but I will remain at Clemson as long as they will have me.' That's paraphrased but PF's words are his own.
Anyone who thinks Dabo has any reason to leave us is ignorant of who Dabo is!

It will be interesting. There will be some stress at Clemson but his buyout is designed for this potential change at Alabama. If anything it will get him more money.

Think about the crap he would get at Alabama if he didn’t win right away. You know what they say, you don’t want to be the guy right after the Legend. A more likely scenario would be for Dabo to stay and be the guy who replaces the guy that lets Alabama not meet the Saban fan era expectations. IMHO
