That's part of the reason for a lack of speed on the roster particularly at the skill positions. Shipley is pretty much the only exception regarding a good track background, but he's lost a step likely trying to bulk up so he can take the pounding of the RB position. Travis was rare in that he could bulk up and still not lose a step.

Nate's the fastest guy on the team and he didn't track in high school. Tyler Brown and Adam Randall both have confirmed 100m times around 10.9. Nobody else really clocked under 11 secs. Adam does not play fast at all. That breakaway speed guy just doesn't exist on our roster.

It was shocking to see Clemson's lack of speed, especially on defense. Then I see this quote:

“Game shape is just different. You go through practice and all that and you just can’t replicate the speed of the game. I need to get some extra running in and make sure my conditioning is where it needs to be. I realized really early in the game: 'I really need to get into better shape.'"

Barrett's issues weren't speed or conditioning if you even watched the game. It was him ending out of position.

He took bad angles Monday night as well. I was probably most disappointed in his play against Duke. I think our WRs and QB are who they are at this point. I know he can play better and I am sure he was more disappointed in his play than fans were. I hope it was just one bad game.

Clemson looked exhausted and out of shape early in the game. Duke's players were hardly sweating and our guys were soaked and breathing hard. All this standing around and doing walk throughs and calling it practice is not working out for us.
