Todd Ellis was a terrible quarterback

listen to the commentary on this guy from 1987. You would think he had won a Heisman or something, but he was just plain bad.

Actually Sterling Sharpe and Ryan Bethea. All he had to do was throw it into their zip code and they would go up and get it.

If I remember correctly, T.Ellis was QB for S.Carolina in 1986 ... when Sterling Shape was playing WR.
T.Ellis looked good that season, since S.Sharpe could both catch and run like mad after the catch (and was hard to tackle).
S.Sharpe would have made Will Proctor and Cole Stoudt look like All-Americans.

This. I never saw him play QB but it is hard to imagine he was worse at that than he is at play by play.

statistically, his freshman year was by far his best.
He has less than a half page in Wikipedia. That should tell you all you need to know about his grateness.

Yes, well, glad someone got it correct. As a redshirt freshman in 1986 he threw for 20 touchdowns. That was a different era of course where teams were run heavy. Regardless, he had good arm strength and was definitely living up to his his High School hype. He was rated as the #1 QB in the country coming out of High School by multiple services. In the three years that followed he truly got worse each year. Never threw for more than 10 touchdowns and was very mediocre. No idea why this was the case, but his accuracy just evaporated. Never heard an explanation but in summary, he was a bust. We all have our share.

Just think if the NIL existed when he was playing. He could have been one heckuva spokesman for Unfiltered Camels with that gravel voice.
