Meh.....he’s standing up for the spear. What’s he supposed to say?.....my administrate a bunch of tools?......the truth is that the protocol was put in place and the went against it. I’m not buying the medical pro said this or that...... not for one second. No school in the ACC has done what they did. We’re all following the same guidelines.....here’s to hanging 100 on em when we play.....if we play.

I really don't expect a new coach to say much against the school, admins, or program.
But, there is much to be concerned about AT FSU.

Forget Norvell, he didn’t call the game off, and we are done with Florida State in 2020! Next year!
The ACC should cancel the Clemson vs FSU AND the Miami vs GA Tech Games. They are meaningless for the ACC and to the ranked teams involved! The games can only hurt the conferences’s chance of lining up 3 Top 10 teams in Major Bowl games. Look at the other conferences! We end up with 10 games without FSU....
The ACC has played far more games than other Power 5 Conferences! Miami and Clemson don’t deserve or need meaningless game on December 12 going into the Bowl season. Let both teams get prepared for bowl games. We (ACC) already have the LONGEST Power 5 schedule (started in September). Move on......
Plus, FSU’s administration is looking out for their teams health, and avoiding a big A$$ Whoopin’ is in their best interest. They have turned FSU into a Dumpster Fire ?? that rivals the coots! We get them both next year!
Go Tigers, Beat Pitt! Get focused!!

How is Clemson - FSU meaningless? Or Miami - GT?
Nov 23, 2020, 10:42 PM
|
|
Lose that and Miami (probably) takes our spot in the ACCCG. So for that reason Miami - GT isn’t meaningless either.

"I’m not concerned about what any other coach says or thinks. I’m focused on what we’re doing here."
I wonder if he means he is focusing on figuring out why his administration made his program look scared to show up and play.
Honestly any head football coach has to be overflowing with competitiveness.
He is likely furious with his administration and almost as mad that he can't say a word about it.

Considering he already got it from his own team's actions and those around him I don't think he has much of a case to make in being afraid of getting it from us!

I actually truly believe two things here. First I believe that coach Novell wasn't involved in the decision to play or not. Second, I believe him when he says that he wanted to play the game, and that his young team needs all the reps they can get. I think he's shown a sign of being willing to build for the future by playing so many young players this season. Not that he doesn't want to win games, but I think he's shown that he's more worried about getting as many reps for his younger players this season than he is about wins and losses.

They had a bye week the week he tested positive. They didn't have a game until 8 days after. I agreed the game should have been played this past Saturday, but the two situations aren't the same.

One more time, if the wording in the ACC COVID protocols allows decisions to be in the hands of medical professionals there is no issue here and it really does not matter what either coach or AD says. If the wording does not allow that, the ACC should determine the fate of the game and everyone can move on. Pretty simple isn't it?

If “ifs” and “buts” were candy and nuts...
The inconsistency here tells you it was not done per established medical protocol. Dabo explaine in clear, plain English. No ambiguity.
There have been plenty of other teams and times when players had symptoms but had not tested positive until Friday night after they were traveling ... then their Friday night test returned positive or negative and if positive, the teams still played while the player was sent back home.
This was no different. The only difference was FSU wanted to change the rules. Simple as that.
And it cost Clemson a lot of $ and Clemson fans who travelled a lot of $. Time for that to NOT be rewarded or excused!

That is a joke because the game was not forfeited and will still apparently be played Blame COVID, blame China, blame Trump, blame who you want but if there is no forfeit, you cannot blame FSU.

As long as FSU either pays for the lost game costs to Clemson or plays it at Clemson, it has zero to do with COVID. Covid procedures were adhered to and satisfied. If you think otherwise, you are either an idiot or a coot... probably both. ??

The one problem with your assessment is that you are leaving out that those medical professionals are supposed to use the data gathered by both teams to make their decision.
They are given a set of guidelines to determine how to react to the data.
FSU's decision in no way was a reflection of the data they received. It also does not line up with previous decisions they have made this season when Pitt had players ruled out based on their Friday test and FSU played them the following day.
Calling them "medical professionals" does not make them infallible.
Either they screwed up big time on this decision, or they had instructions to find a reason to cancel the game.
You decide which.

We offered to play Sunday or Monday... to allow for more tests... they ran away scared of getting a beat down. Had nothing to do with COVID. Pay us the costs we incurred and forfeit or get your ### to Death Valley to suck it up!

Very well said! This is it right here! All the discussion. All the talk; summed up here by TigersO perfect!
They either are not consistent(wrong) or they made a bad decision not based on data( wrong )! At the end of the day - they were wrong!
In many situations you look at "common business practice". Or "best practices"! Either way you slice it - their medical team look like idiots! No consistency. Based on all the data they were given there was zero medical reason to have not agreed it was okay to play the game.

Not sure that I expected him to say anything different. There is concern; however, that he said they were looking at it Friday night but then waited until 3 hours before game time to cancel the game.
You can bet he is being coached by the administration on what to say.

Do you just have a crush on Norvell or something?

What issue did the medical “professionals” at FSU have with the ACC COVID protocol? Everything was done according to the rules in place. If they disagreed with the rules, that’s a conversation they should’ve had with the ACC this past summer. Otherwise, it’s assumed they agreed with the rules and were comfortable playing under those conditions.

I didn't watch the 30 minute plus interview but saw a clip on ESPN where he took another shot saying Coaches aren't Doctors although some think they are. That statement, plus the comment about donating for Clemson's expenses, equals at least a 70+ point a*s*s kicking on the horizon.

Just like the lame stream media questions of some? Wonder who. Did anyone ask him why they refused to play Sat. night, Sunday, or even Monday. Guess the medical experts played that game too. It's BS an will never go away.

Pretty dang simple.

I thought Norvell did his best to take the high road.....

I’m a diehard Tiger fan and have hated the Noles as much as anyone - since the day I watched the punt-a-rooskie game as a student.....I have also enjoyed every minute of watching their demise the past few years. All that said, considering all that has transpired over the past 72 hours, I thought Norvell’s comments were about as classy as anyone could muster CONSIDERING he also has a responsibility to respect those around him and above him.
I hope he proves to be a classy coach in the ACC and that he and Dabo can patch things up and move forward on good terms.
I also hope we get to kick the Noles butts on Dec 12!!!! ....and I’d love to see that happen at Doak Campbell just to make it even sweeter for the players!
Go Tigers!!!

Doctors don’t get a pass with me based simply on their credentials. Doctors must answer my questions to my complete satisfaction or I walk.
To be brief, I walked around with Cancer for six years because I was misdiagnosed by 3 different Doctors on 3 completely separate visits. Had I had an aggressive cancer, I’d be dead.
Any Doctor that will not answer my questions, will NOT be my Doctor. Assuming a Doctor’s credentials will keep you alive can get you dead.

FSU has been in free fall for the past five years, ESPN’S story last week on their NCAA main page chronicled their sad story and gave FSU fans no real hope for an immediate turn around. I’m sure FSU administration felt sick about the story and knew a Clemson romp was surely not going to ease the wound that ESPN applied.

I am sure Norvell is saying just what the administration told him to say all while their silence speaks volumes. Poor soul. Seems like a decent guy in the middle of that toxic culture. Starts out his FSU coaching tenure with his team calling him a liar on social media while threatening to refuse to play. Now the administration has made it perfectly clear they consider that football team an embarrassment by avoiding another blowout by making their own rules. The team has quit on yet another coach!

Always remember the way a med student that just squeaks by and graduates is still addressed as Doctor.

Remember, this is the same idiot that had to be lectured by players parents for not testing 3X a week in the pre-season.

Clearly not about the protocol as it was followed to the letter.
It is about recruiting. If you don't get stomped then you are not that bad. Being a coward will pass as there is no video. A video beat down in Doak Campbell is forever.
A pyrrhic for coach Norvell. Now he must explain cowardice to recruits and family.
Good Luck
