Come to Clemson young man. I so want to hear herbie and Chris say it again.
"Shades of things to come. Welcome to Clemson jarvis green"
Really think he's got it in him. May take a year but ain't no one going to outwork this fella. He loves Clemson and that creates synergy in the locker room.

This recruit may turn out to be a diamond in the rough, but I am struck by how Clemson is pursuing, recently, a 3 star and a 2 star. The hot players (including some already on the team) have many offers, and two players getting recent scholarship offers have a total of 4 offers between them (excluding us), 3 of them from the military academies and one from Virginia Tech. Are our coaches seeing attributes other teams are missing, or is this a reflection of top player disinterest in becoming Tigers? Whatever the answer, it appears that from a star perspective the recruiting slide continues.

So tired of this ETN argument

ETN had 20+ offers, including Alabama and LSU.
Absolutely no comparison.
Now one or two of these types of recruits (see Dukes), then ok. But when all you can sign for two years are projects after missing on all your top prospects?
That's a recruiting slide, no doubt.

Unfortunately while CJ is a great Clemson man, he is not a great recruiter, actually appears to be a horrible recruiter. He hasn't brought in a RB yet and we are taking unrated players.
I will say Jarvis Green is going to make a lot of fans happy if he stays for at least 2 seasons.

Some of you guys …

Need to back away from the recruiting sites listening to the so-called experts.
CJ is a new coach but he is recent enough for these kids to know of his accomplishments on the field.
So let’s give him time to show what he can do as a coach and as a recruiter. I personally think that the new QB1 ability to hit plays down field is going to open up the run game and make Clemson more attracting to top notch backs. Just my thoughts.

CJ has always been in my top three fav Tigers. He seems to be a good coach but how many cycles do we need to give him on the recruiting trail without a blue chip commitment?

A fair request for an opining…

We have two very good backs right now that have been real productive on a limited and predictable offense the past two seasons.
I think this coming season and the on going recruiting cycles for 2024 and on will lead to CJ getting a ‘blue chip’ back. Or one of these guys can end up being an ‘ETN’ type.
Note: Demarkus ? Was supposed to be that guy per ‘recruiting experts’.

Stars are a good evaluation of potential, but we can all give examples of 5 star busts(DJ) and 2-3 star diamonds (Renfrow). You were refering to demarkus bowman, who flamed out at UF. I believe RB and OL are the 2 most difficult positions to qualify. Anyone remember mike bellamy? Actually deserved the stars, but couldnt keep his ego in check. Moved 3-4 times and flamed out at an fcs school.

Dabo is one of the greatest recruiters ever

[ in reply to Re: TNET: Clemson RB target sets commitment date ] |

And I doubt he is going to continue to let a coach or anyone go out and recruit under his name if he doesn’t feel like they can pull the talent. If RB was that much of a concern Dabo would be recruiting them himself not sending CJ. We have never pulled a top tier RB other than CJ, at least one that stick around. ETN was a 3 star and a last minute 2nd choice, Gallman - no one wanted him he was a nkemdichi partner piece that stayed, I don’t remember what Ellington was but I think he was a WR in high school if I’m not mistaken. We lost Gurley, and Chubb, and Michele, and the one that went to UNC and others. Plus we have two starters for two more years so what 5 star is going to come this year and sit on the bench. Even if we got one he wouldn’t be here next year after he didn’t play. I’m two years if we don’t have a decent RB recruit everyone can panic.

Ellington and Gallman too. I don't remember how many stars they had, but what awesome Tigers they were!

Ellington was a 4 star Under Armour All-American.
He wasn't a diamond in the rough type of player.
Gallman was a high school linebacker who moonlighted as a RB for much of his career in high school.
The staff identified him as a guy they could bring in an develop into a really good RB after a year or two.
They were right.

Well thought out post. All these guys saying it doesn't matter are whistling through the graveyard. It certainly does matter and higher ranked players are way more likely to positively impact your program. Sure there are misses. Who doesnt know that?

This is a result of late-cycle recruiting due to Pace leaving and missing on some recruits early on and not having a great pool of talent left to choose from.

I think his size turned away a lot of programs. I hope he proves them all wrong.
