Agreed. As has been said on this board many times, the tight ends are good, probably very good, but they are not used very often. If Richardson is excited, maybe they will get more touches this year. I hope so. It should improve the offense.

With Tony calling the shot at Virginia, and having Streeter as the OC, I'm sure he doesn't plan on following the very same offensive scheme that was in Tony's play book, but if he did, there would be a lot of unhappy fans. But as we've all seen during our time of being college FB fans, a new OC wants to try his own plan. And being that Streeter was once a starting QB at Clemson, I'm sure he's ready to add some excitement to our offense if Dabo allows him to totally run the offense...
With the RBs that we have, Streeter will get good use of them, but I believe he will want to air the ball out a little more than Tony did, and I expect to see a lot more TE targets across the middle, and anywhere they're able to get open. That is what I think, and when a team uses their TEs, that creates opening for the wide outs, and space for the RBs bc LBs will have to back up and play against chunk plays from the TEs. It should be, and I hope that it will be a pretty exciting year for our offense if DJ can get out of his own way and play QB the way that we all have seen him play in 2020.
Go Tigers!!!!!

I love Davis and Sage as run blocking, possession type receiving TEs but I'd love to have a playmaker at the position. I think Jake could be that guy and hope he gets many balls thrown his direction this season. We can use him in certain packages. We have a couple potential playmakers otw to Clemson in '23 as well which is pretty exciting. Go Tigers!!!

When we throw to the TE, the slot receiver is not as important. Throwing low risk passes to the TE is a safety valve for DJ5, just like a good slot.
This is the best group of TE's I can remember at Clemson, so let's use them in every game.
It will open up big gainers for the running backs and slot receivers, plus the safety's have to cover them down the middle of the field. From what I saw of Davis last year, we just don't throw the TE's the ball enough. Let's start getting them the ball with Georgia Tech!
The Tight Ends move the chains just like the slot receivers, and running backs, and a mobile QB. Not moving the chains and punting so much last year is what really hurt the team overall. That used to be our offensive focus, moving the chains, first downs, and the big downfield plays will come.
Three and Out was a killer for us last year!
Go Tigers, Wreck Tech!

Briningstool reminds me a lot of Jordan Leggett

as a Freshman/Sophmore. Both were more receiving Tight Ends than blockers, both were a bit thin for the position and needed more strength training and both were inconsistent.
I expect Briningstool to have a Leggett-like career and expect Davis to emulate Michael Palmer.

Davis Allen is the most balanced TE on this team. Gonna be a stud.

And then we all see the TE's under utilized.
Then, by week 4-5, we're clamoring for why and the reporters ask Tony or Dabo and you hear "The TE's are doing great. You don't see all the little things they do to make the offense work".
Then, to shut us up, they throw 5 passes in a row to Davis Allen in a game vs Syracuse. LOL!!

There was a talent drop post Leggett coupled with a host of intangibles that gravitated the offense away from the TE being a primary factor.
TL accuracy, ETN, excellent WRs, coaching preferences aka playcalls etc etc
Richardson was on outside looking in until recently. Streeter ran the RIchRod offense as a player has been OC in the past and comes with a new mandate to make the offense feared again.
I think he will use all the tools available and we will like it!

Sage is going to be a great all around TE

I was so happy we recruited Sage, he’s been hurt & he’s very young but I believe out of this group he will be the biggest surprise because he is a clutch type player, Mister Dependable if you will. I’m so thankful he didn’t end up at FSU.
Jake is going to be great but he was the number 1 TE, so we expect it from him.
Sage is where Davis was before last season.
I really like this group and Luke Prices experience will pay off too!

I think that a HEALTHY Tiger team on the field will show you doubters what kind of coaches and players really make up this team. Last year was an amazing season when you consider what Clemson DIDNT have.
