Serious question - is Dabo overestimating...

...the amount of good will he has stored up with the fanbase? Obviously we have had the most successful run of Clemson FB history with him at the helm, but things have looked a bit dicey for a couple of seasons now (particularly at a few position group).
Is Dabo relying too much on his past success as the natives get (justifiably) restless?

Just not making the playoffs. Or if we had a down year and didn’t win the ACC and then came back strong… But the steady decline into being pathetic. Clemson fans aren’t going to put up with that in this day and age.

The steady decline is bad but his lying bothers me most. How could he say this team was natty potential. That's not coach speak that delusional bs

Well, we’re LAST in the ACC .. and no bowl game this year. Am sure Dabo will fire up the pumpers to believe, “we good” ..

I estimate that most of our fans think he can do no wrong.

In contrast, I haven’t seen the 98.5%ers say anything negative about Dabo.

Maybe you I have. Personally I have never seen you post a negative thing about Brownell or Clemson basketball. When we lost to Morehead st. You were a ghost.

I think you’re right.
I love Clemson and I’ve had season tickets for 30 years. I live five hours away in TN and it’s rare that I miss a home game. I’ve been to every playoff and bowl game since Bowden became coach and at least one away game every year.
But given where this program is and how no one on the team seams to care and we’ve had several No shows in the last couple of years, I’m done making the effort to follow this team on the road.

Remember a few years ago Dabo said Clemson some day might want to run him out of Clemson. He needs to make the hard decisions and replace many of his staff and get known experienced coaches and pay them or he might actually get run out of town.

Have you seen his buyout?

He ain’t going nowhere unless he decides to hang it up.
Which is a possibility, but no, we will not buy him out to get rid of him.
We’re saving that money for buying out of this crap conference.

Who are the many coaches and why should they be fired?

Our issue is CLEARLY an inconsistent QB and crazy turnovers, or we likely would be 8-0. It’s just that simple.

This is so stupid. Why are there so many turnovers? Because they're getting hit 1 second after securing the ball. The issue is way more significant than that. The issue are receivers who can't get open, because we recruited a bunch of 6'4" receivers with no speed, as well as an offensive line who couldn't block a scrappy middle school team. The fact that you blame Cade, when he's overall played as well as Trevor did in 2020 (when our offensive line woes began), and better than DJ in 2021 and 2022, is laughable.

Dabo is overestimating and underestimating. HE OVERESTIMATED THE ABILITY OF THE NC STATE SECONDARY. He started out believing they couldn't complete long passes. So he accepted losing up front. With less than two minutes in the ball game, and needing a touchdown, he was still running up the middle. Once, and ONLY once, did they attempt a long pass to Collins, and it was a completion . Here's this whole wide field between the team and a touchdown, several times, and he choose to accept losing rather than attempting long passes. They had 4/5 defenders and he could have 4/5 receivers into this large open field. at least 3 or 4 times, I believe Nix could have thrown a touchdown pass. Of course, if you don't try, you can't make a completion. But, egotistical, stubborn, Dabo already had accepted defeat before the game had begun. "We can't complete a long pass because of their defense". YOU HAVE TO TRY. If you don't try, you can't make a completion. HE UNDERESTIMATED his team by believing they could score touchdowns by throwing to the sidelines. NEVER, NEVER has there ever been a touchdown scored thrown to the sidelines. Yet they keep on trying. Lots of room on the field and little to no room at the sidelines. Dabo has weak O Line and receiver coaches. He should stop hiring alumni and hire experienced good coaches even though Riley hasn't shown his ability because Dabo would have a stroke if he didn't have a play sheet in his hand. I am totally grateful for all the good things Dabo has accomplished and it's been a lot. We cannot allow him to drag our wonderful University down to the bottom, where we're headed unless he turns things around next year. I hear we've had a good recruiting year, will return some good talent. We don't need his stupid, ego maniac decisions.

I think CDS has overestimated a lot; how much college football has changed in the past 5 years, the value of culture relative to winning in today’s college football, the extent that what it took to get to the top is the same / similar to what it takes to stay at the top, his ability to positively influence the Clemson offense. Plenty more too.
All that said, even if we miss a bowl (likely) I don’t think he’s going anywhere. And tbh, I’d still prefer him change (debatable how much he can) than us try and go find another head coach to do a complete rebuild. I’m not a pumper. I just think people pounding the table with “Dabo’s gotta go” chants are mostly clueless about the expense and potential downside of getting rid of him. I get there’s a downside of staying with him we are currently living but losing big, as we have this season, is a different kind of humbling than what we’ve scraped out the past few seasons.

A large part of the fanbase loves that "Aw shucks", bible thumping, down home way about Dabo. No doubt. I freely admit that's a part of why I like the guy. But Coach Howard said it best when he said, "No one is bigger than Clemson".

I would fire him at this point. But I am used to having to live up to expectations to keep a job. If I do not hit my metrics, I get fired.

If I have an employee of 15 years that has performed excellent and made me a lot of money, if and when his performance slacks and I start losing money I’m going to try and work with him some to get him back on track.
Dabo has been given the reigns, he basically has an open checkbook to spend on staff and facilities. Every decision that has been made he has made it. The noticeable decline began 2020 so we’re 3 years in. Anything that needs to be changed or undone are his own actions so I’m not sure what else the AD or BOT can do to help him. He has one maybe 2 years left losing like he has this year and it’s over.
Edit: I should also add that so far he hasn’t shown any desire to change things and I see him doubling down on “his way”. I hope I’m wrong but his personality is such
