Win over LSU...

Does the win over LSU remind anyone of how Clemson would get no respect in the bowl games of the late 80's. For example: wins over Penn State and Oklahoma in the Citrus Bowl. I was too young to remember, just wondering what everyone thought.

LSU was a great win but they did finish tied for 5th in the SEC.

Please. LSU was, at worst, the 3rd best team in the SEC.

You can disagree all you want. You can say where you think LSU should be ranked in the SEC. Or you can go to the SEC web site and see where they were ranked. Tied for 5th with A&M.

And both were trying to display their best poker face after those games. Both, like Les Miles were probably thinking, "what in the world am I gonna tell folks about the state of the program between now the next football program?"

That's not what I was asking, besides they were ranked 8th in the country at the time. If they beat Clemson they may finish top 5

I remember that both coaching staffs got into a big fight at some country club after a golf outing the week before the game. Very bad feelings between the teams even before the game started. I'm kinda old and I saw nearly all of those games live back then and imo that was as hard a hitting game as I have ever seen. We were tough but they were too. Great game !!

Oklahoma. Those were two traditional powers that were having down years. Those were more like the south carolina win over michigan this bowl season.
LSU was one of the most talented teams in the country.

At the handshake at midfield after the game Switzer told Danny for us to equal what they had done we would have to win 2 (or 3) national championships. Real class act.

Clemrules, the win over LSU was great! It was much needed and I truly believe it bodes well for us in the near future. The thing we must remember about beating Oklahoma and Penn state is that those Clemson teams won 10 games each in an 11 game season. Those wins help seal the perception of Clemson football as hard nosed, smack you in the jaw football program who feared no team. My sincere hope now is that the win over LSU will again begin the change of "perception" that has followed Clemson football since Danny left. You have got to beat the LSUs of college football if you want to have people take notice, and you have to beat thise teams you should.
