Prediction Clemson vs VT

Here is my prediction for the upcoming Clemson vs VT game in Blacksburg VA.

Both Clemson and VT comes out fired up for the Game of the Week! We had a little tough time getting fire up for BC as we just came off a big win against the Fighting Lamars and most people, including myself, figured we would win pretty easily. This will not be the case this coming Sat. The Fighting Tigers will be fired up and we will see Clemson come out with the same energy as we did against Louisville. VT will also come out and match that intensity as the College Gameday environment will have these boys fired up and coming in ranked number #12 (even though they have had a cupcake schedule) they will have the mindset that they can hang with the Tigers blow for blow.

Expect VT to test our secondary early and often. We will probably be without Marcus Edmond, Trayvon Mullen and possibly Mark Fields. This will make our secondary our week point as our depth will be depleted. Moving Kvon Wallace to corner, who is not the most experienced at corner, Carter and Terrell will need to step up as VT has a very explosive WR in Cam Philips. The play of the secondary and our ability to get pressure on the QB will be very important in leaving Blacksburg with a W. Expect Coach V to send pressure early and often to try to get pressure off of our secondary, but the DEs will need to make sure to seal the edge as VT's Freshman QB can move with the ball.

Here is where Clemson can pull away if Kelly Bryant can shake off last weeks struggles. VT is ranked 64th in passing defense against some pretty poor offenses. Clemson is WRU for a reason. We have too many talented WRs for VT to match up with and again, against poor teams, they are only ranked 43rd nationally in sacks and 64th nationally in pass D. Our O Line should be able to give Kelly Bryant time to read the D and get the ball to our playmakers. Once the passing game starts clicking look out. This will also open things up for our stable of RBs.

I anticipate a relatively close game going into half time somewhere in the neighborhood of 14-10 Clemson as our secondary will be tested and they will try their best to keep us off of the field offensively. Once Coach V starts diagnosing their offense and adjusts Clemson will start getting them off the field and we will pull away.
