Pre-season polls

Oct 29, 2012, 10:19 AM

I know this isn't anything new but after seeing this weekends BCS poll results its clear that the strength of schedule is dictated by these fabricated preseason polls. With Georgia looking like garbage Saturday and somehow managing to win against a Florida team who somehow looked even worse, we now have the perception that all of the top SEC east teams have a top 10 win. The fact that each one was ranked in the top 10 at the time of the games means that the loses dont really hurt them and have actually been whats kept all 3 in the top 10. I guess one solution would be not allowing any polls created before the week that the BCS starts to factor into the BCS formula at all. Also margin of victory should be taken into account. Just wanted to get some other opinions on the idea of how much pre-season polls are affecting the BCS results.

When we beat the coots, it'll be their third loss. No way they should be in the top 25 after that!!

I wouldn't be surprised if the computers ranked them ahead of us even after that. Its already set up for Fla, Ga, and LSU to still be in top 10 even with a 2nd loss.

the good news is...

if Clemson finishes with only 1 or 2 losses, they should start next season in the top 5 with almost the whole offense back (provided Hopkins stays, which I think he will because he's not going to run a fast enough 40 to go to the NFL this year). The defense will have almost everybody back too, so they should improve.
