Power Hitters?

May 31, 2013, 2:51 PM

How did we go from one of the top power hitting teams in the country to just small ball over the last 6-7 years. I mean I know the new bats hurt the power numbers some, but geez....most teams have atleast one 20 hr guy. We went from having a handful of 10+ hr guys to none. This type of small ball offense will eventually cost you when it counts no matter how good your pitching is.

I guess 14 hits/singles can only work so many times...like once. Its time to start recruiting guys that can put it out the park again.

I understand what you're saying, but only two players in the nation have more than 20 HR.

South Carolina won 2 national titles without any real power

hitters. Power hitting is no good if your guys can't ever work the bases and pitch counts to wear out pitchers.

base hits aren't any good

May 31, 2013, 3:23 PM

If you have nobody to drive them in. Our record this post season is a prime example of that.

Well the type of offense we have is built to play that way and they can't even do that right. Ok so 20 might be alil extreme now, but heck even double digit homers. Everyone usually has that one guy that comes to plate that u know can tie up a game with one swing of the bat. Bottomline is, everyone that's known Clemson baseball knows the kinda hitters i'm talking about that we use to have. And Carolina did have that guy with Christian Walker, but they had Superb pitching and defense.

We also only have about 3 guys batting over 300. Most...

teams have 5-6.
