Bowl Game QB???(DW,Cole,Nick)

Dec 1, 2014, 10:16 AM

So being that we won't have a BCS Bowl game, do we actually risk playing Watson? We could do 1 of 3 things.
1. Play DW and hope he makes it thru one more game.
2. Start Cold Stoudt and pretty much take the loss. (Have DW get surgery this week)
3. Give Nick Schuessler all the 1st team reps in bowl practices and let him start. (DW surgery this week)

I want DW to play as much as anyone, but I wouldn't be opposed to let Nick have a shot at it.

Not to sound heartless but what risk is DW running

other than injuring another body part--isn't his knee as messed up as it can be?

I mean I genuinely don't want him to be injured but I'm not sure there's any additional risk by playing him--he's going to need surgery after the season either way.

Any trainers in the house have an opinion?

Well, he can't do anymore damage to the ACL. But, because its so easy for his knee to pop in and out now with a wrong plant or cut...it could cause damage to other ligaments or cartilage. Its just a risk, the brace helps to an extent. Its just a matter of how he feels about it, regardless he would need surgery. I would just hate for every part in that knee to need work. But he could come out with no further damage, I always say...you could get seriously injured in a game whether your healthy or not.

His knee doesn't pop in and out. The reason he kept coming out of the games was because his brace was so tight his calf was cramping.

If there was a chance that he could destroy his knee beyond the normal risk of playing football the doctors wouldn't clear him.

His knee can pop in and out easier regardless, that's what happens if a ligament is stretched. That's why he was limping at some points. Your not going to hobble off the field because the brace is to tight lol

Not a trainer, but from what I heard, the longer he waits for surgery, the worse the scar tissue could be and thus a longer recovery time. But, Im not a doctor and I didn't stay at a holliday inn express last night either.

Those are both legit reasons to sit him. It may

boil down to who we end up playing.

Scaring isn't a issue, ACL surgery requires the complete replacement of the ACL so all the tissue is removed and a new ACL is constructed.

we have accomplished the goal that i've wanted for 5 years..

bowl will just be icing on the cake.......so that being said

if by some chance GT drops below us and we go to the Orange bowl......play watson

any other bowl i'm fine with scheussler.......sorry but i don't wanna see cole on the field in a clemson uniform EVER again.

the sooner watson has surgery the sooner he gets back..............jmo

I agree with your thoughts except at this point I don't care about the Orange Bowl either. We won it last year and at this point we just need Watson back so we can be totally ready for next year.

You never know how surgery will turn out and the last thing I want is going into our first game without having Watson back to 100% just to win a fairly meaningless bowl game.

Watson should have surgery as soon as possible. Bowl games are a reward for a good year. Unless we are in the playoff the plan should be to get ready for next year. It would also be a good idea to give Nick some game time just in case we need him in the back up role next year.

Don't give into these coots. They could care less about Deshaun or any other Clemson player unless it fits their agenda....the are worthless, classless and disgusting! Play DW4, it can't do any more damage. God these idiots make me sick!

Every game counts, whether it's for records or posterity or recruiting. Personally, I'd like to see us put together a fourth straight 10-win season. That 10th win means a lot to me.
