My Way Too Early Top 25 1-10

Jan 14, 2015, 9:06 AM

1. Ohio State- They deserve it. They won, aren't losing much, and have had good recruiting classes. Enough said.
2. TCU- Maybe one of the best looking teams except when Trevone Boykin was chucking deep balls up for grabs against Ole Miss late. They should be in good shape in the Big 12 but will get stiff competition from Baylor.
3. Baylor- They return an awful lot but lose Bryce Petty. Art Briles will have some good options at QB including the freshman Jarrett Stidham.
4. Bama- Could be lower or higher depending on how you look at them. They lose a ton on offense, but have recruited better than anyone. QB position will be interesting but the burden bearer will be super back Derrick Henry.
5. Oregon- They seem to reload every year and their offense is that, their offense. They will be fine if they find a replacement at QB but the Pac 12 won't be easy.
6. Michigan St- This is another team that is starting to show consistency. They have to replace some pieces but are well coached and bring Connor Cook back.
7. Clemson- This is a Clemson board so I won't get into much. Keep Watson healthy and reload the #1 D and the sky is the limit.
8. Georgia- What only the second SEC team?? They have tons of talent and bring in another great class. Who will play QB is the main question but similar to Bama they have a big back, Chubb.
9. UCLA- Return a lot and were pretty good at times in 2014. Prediction- Josh Rosen gets the job vacated by Hundley.
10. FSU- They lose an awful lot but have recruited well and could end up with a transfer QB. Really good depth but will lack experience. Also count on a couple of arrests. Actually don't because they will be released.

Self-edit: Clemson moved to #1. Because.

I believe everybody thinks putting Bama in the top five...

make their opinion legit.

Football has passed Saban by. He tried to hang on by hiring Lame Kitten but had he not been playing in a conference that was way over rated Bama would be somewhere around 20 in the polls.

They have had the #1 recruiting class in the country for about 5 years. They will have a good line a ALL-American candidate RB. They bring in a 5 star QB to compete with Jacob Coker and have the #1 WR commit as well. Even if average for Bama their D will still be very good. They are probably the best SEC team. They warrant consideration in the top 5. I don't have any hatred for Bama, the respect that goes to the SEC should really just go to Bama. I don't think they will win it next year but I think they have the best shot at a playoff spot from the SEC.

I also said they could be lower or higher. I believe that some people will have them #2 and there may be some that put them as low as 8 or 9. To me they fall in the middle from 4-6.

Good top ten. I totally agree about TCU's QB! He is overrated, they likely won't win a National championship with that kid. I think Oregon falls a little bit if Marriotta is gone. Everyone went bonkers over Oregon when they beat FSU but Oregon is still that team that will not win the line of scrimmage in games against physical teams. I think they have 2-3 losses in the regular season if Mariotta goes. So glad you didn't put the Mississippi schools in the top ten like many outlets. I think they are good teams but I am not sold they are top ten programs. I like where you have Clemson, 7-9 is where we should start the year. We have to prove that we can play D with all the losses (and I think we can) and Deshaun has to stay healthy. I think we will be much like Ohio State next year where we are growing up a little early on and become nasty on both side of the line by the end of the year!

Also, Georgia is bound to put it all together at some point with all the talent they bring in every year. It is amazing they haven't already.
