I recommend Drago's on Poydras get the charbroiled oysters. Also I know the guy that owns McClure's BBQ Long Time New Orleans Food guy used to work at Dante's and they do a great job

Commanders is really really good. You need to make a reservation and make sure there is space on the credit card.

Yep. Commander's Palace. Wear a jacket, it's required.

But they will lend you one.
Be prepared to spend a LOT of money. And don't be picky about reservations times. Take any time you can get. I think we were seated around 9:00.

favorites, that are off the beaten path and reasonably priced. Several years ago, we spent a week in NO with my brother-in-law, who had lived there for over ten years. We avoided all the touristy places and he took us to some hole-in-the-walls that had great food, for less than ten bucks! Enjoyed all kinds of shrimp, soft shell crab, catfish po-boys, gumbo, crawfish ettoufee, and much more, never spent more than ten bucks per meal.

I don’t get the charbroiled oyster thing. Just taste

Like garlic butter. Had them at Dragos last night and was really disappointed given that I had been told by several people that I had to have them. Garlic butter in a shell and you barely notice the oyster. If you put them on the bread they bring it tastes like garlic toast. That’s some expensive garlic toast.
