I don't protest. I'm lazy, uninspired and plus I'm non-UDP and white. Life is guiuud. So don't take this as a take on the underlying reason for the protest.
I find it funny a few black athletes protesting by sitting during the anthem to point out what they perceive as a social injustice riles so many up in regards to patriotism and disrespecting veterans...no matter how many times it's been stated that's not the purpose. Yet I just did a quick google search on kkk and the American flag and it's commonly carried along along with nazi and stars and bars. I'd view that as 1000 times more disrespectful than the former.
Why so much ado about one but not the other?
I'm a libtard but I stand during most every ritual before games, take my hat off, put my hand over my heart.
Seeing privileged millionaire athletes actually taking notice of issues and bring attention to them isn't a bad thing. I mean we normally criticize them for being rich and doing drugs and banging strippers. I mean Kapernick, while sucking at QB, actually put his career on the line for taking a stance. When I see some of the qbs in NFL I have to think it's related to his protest. BTW, I have no problem with owners wanting to stay away from him, their right.

The answer is that the few black athletes are paid millions to play a game and are of celebrity status.

Long way to go. I grew up in Calhoun Falls, shout out to Martavis and Kelly B, and our town was literally segregated by a highway. Parents of my friends were treated as second class citizens. A simple change of laws doesn't change the impact of that. It takes multiple generations to get past a wrong like that. I think we are on the right track but it's still out there and more prevalent than just rare cases.
