Getting the impression he is genuinely torn. Loves Clemson but has to do make a tough decision on whether to stay and split carries with Phil. Wants to pursue his dream of the NFL but knows his film can improve.
Ship, if you're reading this - we love you, brother! Tiger Nation will support you whatever you decide.

I understand why you think all those thinks about him. I don’t understand why your thoughts makes him torn. He has not given a press conference that I know of He is probably just living his life and minding his business. He may know exactly what his plans are or he may not. But just because fans are torn does not mean Shipley is torn.

Go to therapy. It's his decision and has no bearing on my life.
He and Mickens are pretty much the last guys who have yet to announce their decision. This generally implies careful consideration of aforementioned decision.

Maybe a bit of empathy for the probable predicament of a college kid making a huge decision??

“Kid”? jeez, unless he figured out how to reverse age every birthday since 18, he’s a grown man making more money than most 9 to 5’ers

You don't have children.
I wouldn't consider myself an adult until I was around 28 years old. Way too many distractions, brain developing, etc.

One huge negative is his propensity to fumble at the worst time. Those fumbles inside the five yard line and the red zone were disastrous. Really like the guy, but…..

He's probably not thrilled with his draft grade and also isn't thrilled with being part of a RB rotation. He could go somewhere else and maybe get more carries but I'd assume he's got a decent NIL deal here that he'd be forfeiting. It's a complicated decision for him to be sure.

some reason TNET thought it was Antonio Williams
The team appears to have picked their RB1 and it is not him. I watched every one dodge him on the sideline celebration when Mafah scored vs UNC in the west endzone. It was sad to see. But remember, he was hard on everyone.

Splitting carries isn't a bad thing. The 2 of them could easily get 15+ carries and touches a game. We should be running more than passing anyway

If we can just hold onto the football next year we will very hard to beat. We were literally dead last in fumbles lost this season. Even we had been just slightly below average we probably would have gone 11-1 and played FSU again. We have got to cut down on CRITICAL turnovers.

He will split carries wherever he goes it would seem. Isn't that how it works nowadays?

Yes and no Ship. We love you and you will ball out next year at Clemson. Don’t go anywhere chasing $ man. You will tote the rock a ton next year and show out for the scouts. You’re one of the few throwback players. Be a Tiger my man. No other teams uni will ever fit right!! Work on your NIL here my man. Money will come and go but being the last great Clemson throwback running back will live forever in the annals of college football history. Stay and be our legend!

Haven’t really heard a lot about Mafah, hope he’s back. Am okay with Ship moving on if Mafah is guaranteed to be back.
Shipley had flashes at end of season, but expected more consistency from him this year. Mafah definitely the better back.

Look at the draft projections before, and after, this season: https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/players/2024/will-shipley
I think those 4th-5th round projections are closest to what he'll get if he doesn't come back for another season. And let's face it; a fifth-round draft pick, where teams will already be carrying three-four RBs coming into camp, is going to be a long shot to even make the roster. As I look back over the last few years of draft picks, the only guy drafted as low who is making an impact for his team is Elijah Mitchell (6th rd) for the 49ers, sharing carries with CMC.
A good 2024 could put him into the second round. That puts him with a much better chance of making a roster.

Ship needs another year to reduce critical fumbles and I think he needs to show the flashes he had at the end of the season catching the ball in space and grinding yards. Coaches need to reduce his runs btw the tackles and give him more open space touches. McCaffrey is a better RB than Ship but even he is used in a lot more open space plays than we gave Ship earlier in the year.
