Is Mark Richt more likely to take the Miami job than Georgia

Oct 29, 2015, 11:43 AM

fans are willing to admit? After 14 years at Georgia and his age of 55, he may be ready for a change, probably his final job before he retires. Plus, with Miami in the Coastal Division, it should be an easier path to the Championship game than he currently has at Georgia.

Miami is a beautiful place. He played high school ball in South Florida and played football for the Miami Hurricanes. Plus, Georgia has a 6% state income tax while Florida has zero.

Not a small number of Georgia fans would prefer he did leave. Be careful what you wish for.

Miami is not a good place to be a football coach right now.

He just said on xm that he was not interested in the Miami job. He wants to retire at Georgia.

Just like Saban is still at the Dolphins. No existing coach with a job will ever admit they are interested in a new job.

Oct 29, 2015, 1:49 PM

he's moved his entire family to Athens including parents children and in-laws so he's not going anywhere plus his contract was re-upped recently. I've heard people who know him say he's more likely to go into the mission field if he gets fired from UGA than another program.

Mark Richt has made it clear....

Oct 29, 2015, 2:05 PM

that his preference would be to retire at Georgia. Of course, UGa alums, fans and admins may feel differently. After all, UGa under Richt has quite possibly achieved less with more than any other team in college football. Now, if UGa sends Richt packing, which would be a monumental mistake IMO, the Miami opening might come into play for him. Otherwise, not so much.
