The 12 team playoff is not the solution to the continuing problem

2 loss sec and big 10 schools will get priority over 2 loss ACC, Big 12, undefeated group of five schools. Just look at the current poll. Oklahoma is the lowest rated 2 loss team below big 10 and sec schools even though they have had bigger wins than the 2 loss teams ahead of them. Highest rated 3 loss team, you guessed right a sec school. There are two one loss teams ahead of FSU

The current system is rigged to get as many sec and big 10 schools in the playoffs as possible.

If there was a 12 team playoff only two non sec or big 10 schools would have made it in. sy

No one left out of a 12 team playoff was going to win it all.

It was about who deserves to be in and where they’re seeded. I made no claim about a lower seeded team winning it all.

So you’re the fing clown

Wow, another clown insisting their unprovable opinion is fact. What data do you have this based on? No one ranked 13 or below has ever beaten a #1?…No, that can’t be it…Hmmmm

Sure they might win a game. But theyre not winning

Again, an unprovable statement. Just saying you don’t think something can happen doesn’t make it a fact. If it did, you could just call the NCAA and let them know they no longer need to play the games, you’ve already determined the outcomes.

In that case, we should put every P5 team in the playoff.

Start the playoffs week one. Because you never know, maybe Vanderbilt would win it all! Can’t prove they wouldn’t, so we have to include them. That way everyone gets a chance, no one’s feelings are hurt, and everyone gets at least a participation trophy.

Or instead, and please follow along, you use things like wins/losses and strength of record. Ya know, the actual tangible numbers instead of your feelings.

FYI, Alabama is the one who got that participation trophy you speak of. “Congratulations Alabama, you’re in the playoff despite losing because, ya know, we like the way you look.”

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep we can use wins and losses and strength of record

to determine that any team left out of a 12 team playoff never had a real chance of winning it all.

EXACTLY. It’s amazing how many people here are dismissing this as just some one-off “life isn’t fair sometimes” mentality. Make no mistake, if it can happen to FSU, it can (and probably will) happen to Clemson. There was considerable lobbying for us to not make the 2016 playoff. What if that actually sticks next time?

As long as everything is tilted toward the SEC and Big10, it doesn't make any difference what ranking system they use.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh wait Oklahoma is going to the sec. So thats one..

So what is your solution? Once you've determined the system is corrupt and will continue to be corrupt no matter the changes, why would you watch or care?

Automatic bids are the solution.

Bids or berths to a tournament, granted based on performance in prior competition, not on subjective picking. Sounds good to me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OK. Question 1: So who gets these automatic bids?

Question 2: Who determines who gets the automatic bids?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The "continuing problem" is how to initiate additional network revenue
