34:36 to 25:24 time of possesion, yards per pass were even (7.4 to 7.8) and we had 3.6 to their 1.1 yds per rush. The talent they acquired from the portal made them better than they were last year, but it did NOT make them better or more talented than we are this year. We had plenty enough talent to beat them this year, and we played like it most of the game, so let's squash that stupidity by those parroting the same nonsense over and over.
We lost this game due to questionable playcalling and coaching decisions at critical times.

I agree with you. I don’t care that much about the portal, but I do care that week after week our coaches get in the way of this team winning and excelling, including Dabo

at QB and receiver than we are currently. We return just about everybody on offense. They have a couple of talented wide receivers and we were missing our best and Brown was banged up. They had better offensive players today, but our coaches and performance put us in position to win the game. The missed block by Mafah and the scoop and score was the difference in the game. Easy yards and points when our defense had outplayed them.

WR that we don't have, for sure, and yes, Williams being out and Brown banged up hurt us. But the missed chip shot FG was a killer as well, and very well could have won the game for us had he made it. The 3-man front in the 1st half cost us, as did a few key offensive play calls. And the missed block by Mafah.
All of that made a differnce. Ultimately, we had all we needed to win without using the portal.

Yep, that AND still we had the chance to win it in regulation with a FG. Clemson beat Clemson. I’m not happy about losing, but our teams played well with I h is good for the future.

Even though their offensive talent was superior to ours. Which is what I thought going into the game. I figured our defense was better than people were saying and our linebackers could contain their QB and swing passes.
Our offense played great short handed because Cade was great, oline was great, play calls and scheme were great, we just turned the ball over for an easy TD and that was the difference.

I think the biggest difference in these 2 offenses was a highly experienced qb vs a very talented young qb that's still learning. Cade made some mistakes for sure, but he also made some incredible throws today. At times our receivers made some great catches also. Defensively we're much more talented on the field (db's equil) but our DC looks to me like he's still learning on the job & that can't happen.

If you research those TL16 teams, it was frequent for Clemson to lose the time of possessions and 1st down counts, and win the games by 3 or 4 TD's.
It's like MLB with HR's. It's the explosive plays and players that change the game. The time of possession mattered today more for keeping the ball out of FSU's hands than for Tigers scoring points. Tiger coaches can be counted on to make the conservative play calls, and opposing coaches will let Dabo have the short plays.
