I saw a lot of good things yesterday

I was more worried about linebacker and depth at DE than our QBs and Oline.. I do not see either going backward. I saw some good things from our younger players on defense that let me know that we are going to be OK here, especially at linebacker. We only return 3 starters D.
Sammy Brown is as billed and will contribute, The staff has a lot of confidence in Woodaz in the middle, and the redshirts look the part. Anderson and Crayton made plays, and Jahiem Lawson has transformed himself into a monster. Capehart, Page, and Williams will give OC's nightmares all season, and with Woods playing end, we are going to put one of the best DLines in the country on the field yet again.
Again, I just do not see this offense taking a step backward, not with 8 starters returning. I would not worry too much about yesterday, we had a lot of guys out and the coaches were putting a ton of pressure on Klubnick, to which I thought he responded pretty well. Better now that he gets a glimpse of what is coming in Game 1. I thought that was the whole point of a situational scrimmage.

Wished I could say the same about the posters. Unfortunately, many have taken a step back.

yeah, I was a bit worried here, not any more. It looks like we hit on our guys on defense in the last couple of cycles. I wish we could evaluate along the Oline as well, but it seems like that ship is slowly being steered into calmer waters.

We just need Cade to be Carson Beck and not Johnny Manzel. If he can do that, then we have a great season.

Just not NFL version. And drinking and drugging will not be an issue with CK, but WORK TO DO AT QB.

I agree with you Tigerbalm1. Last year during the Spring Game, I knew Clemson would have problems because their defense didn't have the intensity at the point of attack as they did yesterday. The kind of pressure their front 7 will bring against UGA will cause turnovers and if they get points off of turnovers in Game 1 then it will be a very pleasant season for the Clemson faithful. The offensive line was split up and competitions will continue to grind on for starting positions there. The defense looks insane, and an insane defense will give any average offense a chance to score and win the game. Especially, if the defense is able to convert a few take away scores of their own. In all, with Phil Mafah continuing to improve his craft at RB, Cade being able to scramble and extend drives with his legs, and our TE corps which didn't receive many targets becoming a threat underneath, we will be just fine because it will open deep routes for this extremely talented WR corps. If the offense begins to gel and come together as a complete unit firing on all cylinders, then we will watch opposing defenses contend with a pick your poison scenario.
I cannot predict the outcome of the UGA game in Week 1, but I can tell you this much, should Clemson win even by 1 point, I don't see anyone including FSU standing in the way of Clemson for the remainder of the season. The good news is that Clemson is a very young and talented team, and if they win it all this year you can expect another 5-year run.
GO TIGERS!

if we could put up points against our own guys, we would score on UGA. And when the teams are split in half, the DLine, where we have a ton more functional depth, had a huge advantage. That is what I saw yesterday, Clemson Dline dominating Clemson Oline up front. GIve Klubnick an extra half second and he hits on a lot of plays yesterday.

True, and some of the plays that Dabo calls a sack would possibly not be a sack if Cade were to scramble and complete a pass. However, the play was blown dead before he was able to show off his ability. On the sack from Sammy Brown and Jaheim Lawson I agree that it would be a sack for sure. I did see a better form of pass protection from the O-line that I've seen in the previous three seasons. I'm not at all worried about the outcome of the season this year.

He did do some basketball trolling all season. He surpassed you as my least favorite poster. If you post things like this though I will respond with logical thought out responses. I just don't care for the non funny sarcasm. Much rather read good thought provoking topics about football. Good job on this đź‘Ź topic.

J. Anderson, A Terrell, S Brown, T Williams, Hoffler, T Kelly, Wesco, Pat-Henry, Sapp, and Pearman all looked pretty good yesterday. Add in our missing starters like Stellato, Brown, Bringingstool, Capehart and hopefully another 4mos with Luke coaching OL, we should be fine.
If we win our first game against Dawgs, it could be a great year. If we lose a close game against UGA, we could still have a great season and make playoffs. I just hope it doesn't look like our Duke game last yr for first game of yr.

Westco made a difference imagine how TJ Moore will elevate this team. First year in many I'm not concerned with WR depth. I'm glad Pearman showed out he can push Cade and be ready to roll as the #2 QB coming out of spring. Vizzina needs a little more time in the oven so to speak. All the doom sayers are mostly casuals fans who stat watch and only care about high light plays. Klubnik will be a good maybe great QB this year, there was some tremendous strides made in alot of areas people bitched about with him last year. He played with in the system, stayed in the pocket(granted it was 2 hand touch for him), made the correct checks presnap(Dabo was talking about this as he was doing it), and had a few drops from the wrs that made the stat line look worse. I won't say he was perfect though bc he did have 2 near ints that were on him solely, but it is a spring game meant to find those issues and correct them. There was definitely some miscommunication between QB and WR across the board for most(happens when new guys are in).

The thing that bothers me about Cade is that he continues to take risks throwing into double coverage and that could hurt him.

It will but that's the type of QB he is. Guess what though Deshaun for all of his greatness and come from behind hero ball was often the reason he had to play catchup in big games. He threw alot of ints giving his guys a shot at the ball and I 100% remember reading Tnet posters saying Deshaun was thinking about the NFL and tapped out mentally on his championship year. It's the gunslinger mentality, issues last year had alot to do with not having any healthy wrs that could win on the perimeter.
I do hope the run game is better bc if Mafah can get rolling and he has at least a guy who can give him a breather this offense can go out and win games. I don't think Cade is a Watson clone he can't carry the entire team, but he can win if he continues to improve and starts processing a bit faster.
