Anybody getting the feeling of a monumental win against Georgia?
You know, since the NC State loss, things overall have been very good. Not flawless, but very very good.
The only thing you could have hoped for after NC State is what got done. And as a matter of fact, NC State had a tremendous year by their standards.
But a 5-game win streak including some real tough teams.
But the recruiting and the new guys coming in enhances the feeling of optimism.
First off, TJ Moore’s performance in the All-American game was very promising for this program. And we know Wesco will be good.
Ricardo Jones is going to be a very important piece of the next 3 or 4 years. Whatever happens. He is a presence at safety. He’s enormous and can fly. With Mickey Conn developing these DBs how he has, I expect Jones to be a Jayron Kearse, Justin Miller, Brian Dawkins type of presence at Safety. Miller was a corner, but still.
I just think we will have playmakers. And that is what this particular team has needed. As well as O-Line.
The only thing that will hold us back is if the O-Line cannot show consistency. Cade is a good QB with protection.
The win would be huge obviously. And I really think it’s a close one regardless of who wins. We’ve got real talent loading up next year.

...banking his hopes on a freshman WR to come and save our offense in the first game of the season against Georgia, though? It illustrates just how far that room has fallen.
I want about 25 gallons of what he's drinking. LOL.

Short and sweet.
Nah, Roy, nothing wrong with optimism. I do think we'll know more after the spring. At this point, we don't even know who we'll have.
While we had a nice 5 game win streak, I would disagree with your assessment we beat several tough teams. Imo, we had one good win last season - ND. I did a spreadsheet of our schedule this season. The numbers weren't very impressive from a defensive or offensive side.

The last time we opened the season against Georgia we were 3 point favorites. This time around we will likely be a 15 to 18 point underdog. Poor coaching hires, recruiting, and failure to utilize portal opportunities have really caused this program to slide.

You nailed it on the head. However, I do believe Dabo has recognized his mistakes and is on the way of getting them fixed even though it does take time. It’s harder to get back up than to fall.

No QB means No win. Got a local QB in Anderson that’s a rising Sr next year. Kid is better than Klubnik already and wanted as preferred walk on. What a joke!! He’s already better than Klubnik because he can read a Defense. I know it’s HS but would say he’s better than the commit next season. Either way, no QB means no upset.

Bwahahahaha. There is no local kid in Anderson that is better than Klubnik. Does Klubnik need to improve greatly, yes, but there have been flashes of great play, so we know it's there. Klubnik was one of the best HS QB's of all time coming out of Texas, and Texas HS Football is exponentially better than SC HS Football. Let's see what the kid can do with an OL and WR's that catch the ball before we right him off. I don't know that I'm feeling a win at this point, but I don't think it's a blowout, and I believe our defense will keep us in every game.

Kid threw for 42 TD 8 Int 4200 yards / Ran for almost 700 yards with 6 TD . 4 A player of year state championship and has started since a freshman. Seen both in person for 2 years and have coached played football dude. Goes to a passing camp in Virginia where they’re elite competition and won the whole thing. Herbert the commit for next season probably doesn’t play near the competition this kid plays! Just stating the facts homie

That's great. Cade's stats where the following in HS. Threw for 7,426 yards, 86 TD's to 7 int. Rushed for 1,286 yard and 29 TD's. Cade was MVP of the Elite 11 Camp (Pretty sure that's higher competition than that camp in Virginia). Gatorade Texas Player of the year. Won 3 straight 6A State Championships in Texas. I haven't coached, but I did play Texas HS football, and against players like Adrian Peterson and Tommie Harris. As you did before, I'm just stating facts, the Anderson kid isn't better than Cade. You may have an argument on Herbert, but I'm not as familiar with him.

CK2’s success in HS underscores the frequency in which stupendous HS stats do not accurately predict college success.
That does not mean to say that the kid from Anderson is destined for mediocrity. But at this stage I’d wager that the kid from Anderson has a better chance of becoming a superstar college QB than CK2.
CK2 will end his CFB career as a good college QB. He simply lacks the throwing ability (arm strength and accuracy) to be great, even if he learns to recognize (and react accordingly) that split second of the window when the WR gets open, and to ‘see the field’ so that he can redirect his focus on the WR that has the best chance of creating that ‘open window’ o which the pass should be directed. Secondarily, CK2 will never be a true threat as a runner based on called running plays. He’s blazing fast, but only effective when running in a straight line, hen no shiftiness is required, and when he is not expected to have to break arm tackles. As a scrambler, he is pretty good; as a runner in designed QB runs, he’ll never be a consistent threat.
The kid from Anderson? He probably won’t be a superstar, either. However, at this point there is a possibility that he’ll develop into a superstar. Likely to become a superstar? Heck no. But there is a possibility for him, whereas the evidence of CK2’s actual play in college proves that ck2 will not develop into a superstar.
(Clemson can be a 10 win team with CK2 as our QB. That is pretty good. Things could be worse.)

In his first year of starting, or getting any significant playing time? Let’s see what jump he makes from his sophomore to junior season. That should be the time where you can legitimately call him a bust or not.

I’m not going to write off Klubnik after one season behind a Swiss cheese offensive line and a receiving corps who largely couldn’t catch a cold or stay healthy, especially with the lack of preparation he had in the previous season. I don’t think we truly have an indication of if he’ll be a superstar or not at this point, unfortunately as a fan base, if they’re not a star by the end of their freshman year, we tend to think it’s not going to happen, although I’d point to Bo Nix as an example of sometimes it taking a bit of time.
As for the kid in Anderson, he may be a fine player, but it’s not just our coaches who aren’t offering him a scholarship

Looking at the offers for Cutter Woods, he is not already better than Cade or Hebert. Cade would have a better opportunity to read the defense if he were not running for his life. As an example, Penix looked great against Pac defenses where he had a bunch of time but against Michigan, not so much.

Bud it’ll be more than 7.
Probably about 10 the week leading up and it may go to 11 or down to 9 or 8 and 1/2.
Why are people acting like the spread tells anything about the outcome of the game?
It tells where the two teams are at before the game and how they’re predicted to compete against each other, but like I said a bunch of playmakers can cause trouble for Kirby. Especially with Dabo as the coach.

the line would be 14-17. That's based on current power rankings that usually track pretty closely with the Vegas lines.
I don't think offseason stuff is going to change that much, so i would bet it opens around 14 or so.
