any of youse guys periodically get capacitors blown on your AC units?

on our old AC used to happen about every 2 months, so much that I learned how to do myself and always had a spare on hand.

Just happened again over weekend. AC guy says its random, some houses more prone, may be lightning strikes nearby and capacitors now are not like good ole days, said he has to replace tons more now than he did a decade ago.

Just once in 21+ years.***

I always get nervous during that part

Put in a “flux capacitor” and it will always be like the day it was installed.

only time in the decade in this house. Have a spare on hand for when it happens again, but since this is the original unit in this 2006 build, I have a feeling next time is gonna cost a little more than a $13 capacitor.

If it is a repeat failure, get the same microfarad rating in a higher voltage rating for better reliability. Will cost more but will end up lasting longer due to lower stress. Probably sized right at the max run winding operating voltage out of the box to save costs.
