Huh. Even a SCar writer agrees we have more NFL talent

Nov 27, 2013, 3:26 PM

Even though he of course ranks the one SCar player at the top of the list. Ignoring the order, he got most of it right.

Yeah, their argument is their team is still young..

Clowney is the top pro prospect, not the top college player

But I think you could argue that Clemson's had more pro talent on its team for the last few years, and it hasn't helped Clemson win the game.

It's an argument made all the time. I still remember a few

years back - 2011 maybe? - when Urban Meyer was a guest commentator for one of our early games. Auburn in September that year?? Don't remember. But he made an on air comment, basically saying that Clemson had a reputation for a good facility and recruiting above average talent. He thought the teams should routinely be in the top 10 if not the top 5 a lot. But....

At the time I though he might have been preening himself to be considered for the Clemson HC job in case Dabo wasn't going to work out. It was right after that bad 2010 year when so many, especially here, were calling for Dabo's scalp.

Great article and very positive. I think Sammy and Vic can both go in the top 10. Doesn't SCar have only have like 4 seniors though (and Clowney)? That does actually seem really young.

Clemson only has 10 scholarship seniors that got any

significant playing time. There are a few more senior walkons.

We are a young team too. This year we are a sophomore and junior dominated team. Next year we will be a junior senior dominated team.

While many nationally may not believe it, we will be better next year.

And it's not like he listed all that may end up drafted

and not as free agents. I believe Quandon Christian could be picked in a late round, for example.

Most of our impact players are juniors and seniors though. I was at the UVA game and those fans were saying we were also gonna give SCar fits as well because they were both the two youngest teams in the country. I think our experience and seniority is big this year. A team with only 4 seniors can't have the leadership to get it done in a big game.
