How about a football topic: top Clemson QBs of your lifetime

Aug 2, 2012, 9:35 AM

Sorry to break up the chikfila circle jerk- but how about a football topic.

My top 5:
1)Woody- could hurt your with his arm or legs. Very underrated passer. Played on a terrible team his senior year and single handedly led us to a winning record.
2)Charlie Whitehurst- had a very good arm, led us to some great wins. Seemed to get openly frustrated with his teammates at times
3)Tahj
4)Nealon Greene
5)Brandon Streeter

Ok, so this list isn't really for my entire lifetime (1980-) but just for when I clearly start remembering Clemson football (1990).

Instrumental in my all-time favorite quote from Mickey...

Aug 2, 2012, 4:34 PM

"While CW MIGHT be a better pro prospect, WP fits our(Rob Spence's) offense better". Best part of the quote? It was said in the pre-season before anyone had actually watched a game with said offense...

list. I'll add another - Harvey White - but that goes back a ways. Brandon Streeter is the toughest QB I've seen at Clemson.

If you were born in 80 you missed the top 3 ....

Aug 2, 2012, 9:54 AM

Homer Jordan - 1981 NC
Mike Eppley - Great winning percentage, FB & BB starter, highly underrated
Rodney Williams - Most wins by a CU QB

I was at Clemson from 70-74. All we had was Tommy Kendrick and Ken Pengitore and they're not even close to the top 5.

How about two lesser remembered good QB's

Aug 2, 2012, 10:45 AM

Morrocco and Eppley. Both of these guys were excellent QBs also. I don't know if they would make my Top 5, but they sure deserve a mention.

Eppley would be in my top 5. Steve Fuller, Homer Jordan, Rodney Williams, Dechane Cameron, Mike Eppley. Not a bad bballer, too.

Pengitore

Aug 2, 2012, 1:35 PM

I just liked to watch him, and something about his name. Spoke with one of his receivers a couple of years ago. Said Penjy wasn't the best thrower but he could run, and preferred to (to the dismay of the receiver!)

My single all time favorite Tiger...and 32 wins ain't too shabby. Next would be Charlie (4-0 vs Cootlumbia, enough said)! Woody, for the reasons mentioned in this thread, and then Homer. Tajh is fifth on my list for now, but hopefully not after the next two years. Go Tigers!
