He's just above the asphalt secondary road & walkway beside & outside South Stands.

So he can hear his Tigers!

I attended Coach Howards Eulogy on a dreary cold Super Bowl Sunday &

and afterwards watched & heard below his gravesite..next to the South Stadium Road..a Tiger Pep Bad play the slowest & saddest Tiger Rag ever, for him.

What a memory kept forever of a dedicated head football coach whom I got to interview twice in early-mid 60's for The TiGER student newspaper as a Sports Writer..

and met Coach Howard again for a 15 minute chat after the Spring Game of 1989 as he was shoveling dried grass from a parking lot curve into a bag (remember he originally planted & mowed the grass on His playing field) outside the old Athletic offices opp LJ..

and he took the time to rest from the 84* heat by leaning on his car fender (now in his 70's & sweating) and told me how the Easley Bypass from G'ville to Clemson was a by-product of him telling the SC highway patrol in 1960 to cause a traffic jam after the "1st ever" CU-SC football game played AT Clemson..

and in doing so he knew the gamecock big wigs, lawyers & legislators from Columbia would start hollering and making sure they didn't have to endure those 2-lane country roads and longg trips again in 1962 and would find the funding for 4 highway lanes sooner than later!

Bingo!

What a guy & ambassador for lil ole clemPson College!

Go TiGERS & THX FRANK~

My mother was an RN who took care of Coach Howard after surgery not long before his death. She got me his autograph when I was 15 and she still worked 3rd shift.

Still think about that.

Not according to the picture posted by LBB.... he's facing East - unless they turned his casket 90 degrees to the left.

You can check with Clemson Cemetery investigative group that has now found an alleged 700 unmarked graves at Cemetery Hill .. or voids in the ground be whatever.. and now say all African American graves from1600s??.. they have scanned the Cemetery noting voids but if casket they can tell you orientation of the casket.

just fyi…

I have a question. I noticed that his wife was named Anna Tribble Howard. Any relationship to former Clemson womens basketball coach Ann Tribble?
