Dabo will not hire a former head coach

Let me get this clear. Dabo will not hire a former head coach as his assistant, who might be a threat to his job. It was evident when he did not consider Randy Shannon for def coord and Ralph Friedgen for OC before Chad Morris came in. Both of them openly expressed interest in clemson.

Let me refresh your memory. Kevin Steele is not a proven head coach and he had a losing record at baylor.

than we do now? You know, our record-breaking offense?

Maybe Dabo just wanted the best guy for the job.

Have you noticed how many other programs have hired RF? That would be "none." Are they all scared of him?

Dabo hired Kevin Steele - a much-heralded defensive coach with head coaching experience, NFL experience, major program experience and local ties. Why wasn't he scared of him?

Dabo knows he's safe if the team wins. He hired an OC that runs the offense and is killing it. That doesn't seem to bother Dabo. No one is going to fire a head coach that is performing. Dabo sets the culture, runs the program, represents the school and brings in the players. If you're winning, there's no way you mess with that formula. How do you know the team will be cohesive with your X's and O's guy as the head coach? How do you know his gameplanning will be as sharp when he has to deal with everything else? How do you know he can bring the right players in?

Dabo isn't perfect, but it is so frustrating to see how far so-called Clemson fans will go to try to knock him.
