Good place to tailgate.

I was just wondering where is the best place to tailgate for visitors who don't have a parking pass. I know I'm coming into enemy territory but I am just a good down to earth fan who loves the overall gameday experience and can enjoy tailgating around any fans who enjoy it the same. Thanks

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I might try the Y as that seems to be a popular spot. Thanks again for the hospitality and help. It should be a great game.

pretty and provide a lot of shade during the day...This is the happiest place on earth....If you realize your mistake meet in parking lot west end zone after the game and we will consider baptizing you and showing you the light.
...I know you are used to driving to a concrete parking lot where people get shot and lay on their back like your ugly roach stadium....

Seriously Y beach may be your best bet. Thre will likely be many other gamecocks parking there and a shuttle bus is available before and after the game. All the closer spots are Iptay members. Good luck

Campus beach, the Walker Course driving range lot, or "The Pit" it's a student commuter lot.
If you are coming in from Anderson on 76 you want to come in the back way and take a left onto Old Stone Church Rd. and then take Cherry Rd, that will take you behind the Walker Course where they have some decent tailgating spots. There is traffic this way but it isn't as crazy as having to go right through campus. Unfortately, if you don't pay you will have to walk. That's most likely where my roommates will park, since that's where we have been for the last few games.
I hope you enjoy the game (just not the end result.)

you should find plenty of tailgating spots. p.s. you might should hire an off-duty policeman to provide security, that's not the safest place in the world.
