with impressive results so far. He blazed his forty time which is the same unofficial time that Clowney had last year. And he demolished Clowney's bench press results by 14 reps (35 to 21). The icing on top of the cake is that he is healthy and can actually play.

They would have to make a special pre first round allowance to pick him, if only he'd knocked some dude's helmet off.

For an OL or a DL, it really is about as important as any measurement when coupled with bench press reps, IMO.

better player - Clowney or Vic? Most, including Tiger fans said Clowney. I don't think that's very much debateable anymore considering the Clown Man has shown his true colors. As most people knew, Clowney made his name (and $$$) mostly on one big hit (showed ad ad nauseam on ESPN) where an OL completely whiffed on his responsibility.

Slow your role, dude. Beasley tested better at the combine, let's wait til he proves it on the field. I'm not saying he won't be better than Clowney, but let's just WAIT. You can't deny Clowney's talent - he single handedly beat us two years in a row. I'm not a "coot", but the fair-minded person in me thinks it's idiotic to declare one better than another at this point. One has considerably better work ethic than the other, and that will have a huge impact on their careers.
If you're talking better college career, you've got a solid argument, but that means nothing now.

True. Predicting or forecasting one to be better than the other is one thing, but declaring Beasley the better player with the only criteria being his combine results is idiotic.
Perhaps the guy above meant Beasley is the better prospect.

scores go, he's absolutely the better prospect. Clowney (alough I dislike him or really anyother Coot) is THE absolute FREAK for his position at DE. Beasley is obviously an athletic freak as we've all known, and now people everywhere are now finding out just how special this athlete is. If we're talking pure athleticism, it's Vic all day!

He was lazy and unproductive his senior season and that he's already looking like the biggest bust in recent years? Clowney hasn't proven anything and should do something to make him look like the player you and every other delusion fan thinks he is, until then he hasnt shown me anything to make him deserving of being brought up in the same conversation as vic Beasley.

What about waiting to see the guys play ON THE FIELD and then assessing who the better player is, is delusional?
I'm being argumentative. That's the point of the message boards. If you say Brady is better than Manning, I will ask "what is your criteria determining who is better?"
In this case, the guy above said Beasley is the better player. I think it's a little premature to make that statement considering there's he's never played a down in the NFL. A better argument would be: based off of Beasley's great senior season, tremendous combine, and proven ability to improve, versus Clowney's poor work ethic and propensity for injury, I think Beasley will be the better NfL player.

in the last 3 years? He was able to cash the check but he better hide it or spend the rest of it before Texans ask for it back. One Hit Blunder!!! And you can not tell me no one saw it coming because there was a lot of speculation before the draft last year. Face it Clowney like USuC is a fraud.

He was good during his Sophomore year. Very good. Not quite as good his junior year because he was most likely checked out but still effective.
But telling me he's a fraud doesn't further the conversation -- you don't have to take it personally -- it's just fun to to debate about how Vic projects versus Clowney. Check out Tiger Man's comment below. Apply some thought to your comment; you remind me of a child that says "I don't like girls!" Why? "Because their icky!"

I don't think Clowney's performance at "the next level" is a criteria anybody who is a Clowney fan will want to use as a criteria (so far, that hasn't worked out so well). Did Clowney seem to have the measureables to be an awesome NFL player? Absolutely! How has that worked out, so far? Not at all. Will he ever live up to expectations? I don't know, but the farther away from his Sophomore year at usuc (when he seemed "Super Human", the less realistic those expectations seem to be. Maybe he will be "the Incredible Hulk" of Pro Football, but he has a long, long way to go, and I doubt he has the gas in his tank to get there, IMO.

Dugatiger, I seriously believe you wrote that under the assumption that I'm a "coot" masquerading as a Tiger. I'm gonna change my profile pic to my CU diploma. But even though you're minus 1 me because you suspect I'm a spy, at least what you said was fair.
I agree, I would not use his first year as a criteria to prove anything. And my honest opinion is that he'll flame out also, because of injuries and his poor work ethic. He probably will have a few good years though bc he is playing alongside the best defensive player in the game, and that'll guarantee no double teams.
The only point I really wanted to get across was be easy with the hyperbole after the combine, and let's let Vic prove it on the field. Then talk. If that makes me a coot, then so be it, but those who are "outing" people need to realize not everybody is so immersed in the rivalry, and there's guys like me that worked my way through CU, still paying my loans off, graduated In a tough economy (2010), donate a small amount to Clemson every year, and have begun a scholarship foundation since graduation. So if you're the one doing the outing, you sure as heck better not be someone who's only contribution to Clemson is paying TigerNet a monthly subscription fee.

I too worked very hard to "pay my own way" through Clemson. I was a Football Player on Scholarship. Some would call that a "free ride". I seriously doubt many who "work their way through school" work harder, and most probably don't work nearly as hard as we did (and we didn't work nearly as hard as today's Clemson player). I base most of my opinions on personal observations. I have had the opportunity to observe many thousands of coot fans and supporters through the years (and a lot of others, too). They have some very classy and solid fans, just as we do. They also seem to have an abundance of very classless fans, and I'm sure we do, as well, but I never have observed that in anywhere near the numbers nor the frequency of scu. As for me giving back to Clemson, let me say, I have been what most people would say, "very successful" in my businesses. I give substantially to both Clemson University through the Clemson Fund and the Alumni Association, and I do the same thing through IPTAY (which stands for "I Pay Thousands A Year"). I do put my money and my time back into Clemson, so please don't lump me in a group, either. I'm just a loyal Clemson fan, so proud of our University and the way our program is being run now, and I do think we are superior to most others. I make no apologies for that.

Dude that's why people are fleeing this website and heading to STS, because of dipsh!ts like you.
I grew up in the upstate, graduated Clemson, and now live away from the state. Have you even earned the right to call yourself a Tiger (i.e. Did you graduate from CU) I just don't get caught up in the rivalry because I'm not constantly exposed to Gamecocks. But more than anything, I don't care about the Gamecocks. I care about Clemson.
Re-read my comment below (if you've acquired that skill), and see if there's anything that suggests I'm promoting Clowney or discrediting Vic.
You, by the way, are pathetic. And not a pathetic chicken; just a pathetic human being; and one I'm not proud to to call a fellow Clemson fan.

Regurgitate most everything the coots say. I suspect they hear some coot going on about it at work or a friend that's a coot and for whatever reason they choose to believe it. If you'll notice there's also some that are going to believe everything that could possibly seen negative for clemson and they're actually clemson fans, I haven't figured that group out yet

And to think some idiot coot said that Vic cost himself a lot of money and draft slots for coming back to Clemson his senior year. That proves that the coots jealous hate for Clemson runs so deep, that they will publicly display their ignorance with absolutely no shame of being thought of as complete IDIOTS!!! The phrase stupid is stupid does was first directed toward usuc fans. Those are the same fans/fan base that call "Themselves Cocksss"!!! I guess that proves they're able to except the truth about themselves....

They never cease to amaze (or, more like, fall short) of already low expectations. How would you like to have to go through life like that? I, almost (I said, "almost"), feel sorry for them, but then I remember that they had a choice, and they brought it on themselves. Then, I have no sympathy for them.

OL didn't whiff it was a TE
Feb 22, 2015, 3:58 PM
|
|
Lewan destroyed Clowney the whole day. Then on that play the TE only needed to bump Clowney and Lewan was turning inside to take on the interior lineman. We all saw it some of us will say great play and I will say great play illegal hit (it was).
Clowney is one of the 3-5 most naturally gifted players I've ever seen. But he's lazy, has a questionable motor, apparently has weak upper body, and is not at this point coachable. His game is one sided. He's a pure speed rush guy with a limited bag o tricks and even that is sloppy. His wide swing swim will not beat NFL OT's.
Beasley right now is a OLB that can in situations put his hand in the dirt. I think as he gets a little older he will slide to DE and make a flawless transition. But aside from his obvious natural ability his greatest attribute is his ability to absorb what he is taught and is just a coachable guy. You don't go from HS TE to All American DE career sack leader at a school that has traditionally produced good DL, without soaking up coaching. Coaches love him because they know they are not wasting their time. Will Beasley be better than Clowney? As a person, probably. In the stat column who knows? Clowney has the bulls eye on him. There's a ton of pressure on him. Beasley has shown he can handle expectations. Clowney's shown that he can take plays off, games off, hell seasons off.
Beasley will be Beasley and that will always be better than being a #### chicken!

But But, he's not from the SEC! He's a defensive lineman from the weakACC? The measurements can't be right. Only SEC DEFENSES ARE FAST. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Beasley "the BEST" just did that! ESPN guy said he couldn't believe his eyes. Makes sense since they have been lying to them selves all these years. Then again what really happens doesn't matter, it's all about perception ??
