Does anyone really still believe this is the same CLEMSON

team that we saw in previous years that was undisciplined and unprepared??
I barely recognize this CLEMSON team. For years and years, I truly cringed in many situations, felt unsure when our opponents were in 3rd-and-long, their QB scrambled, etc. But no more. This CLEMSON team plays like they are on a mission. FINALLY!

I had forgotten this)--we had already locked up the division when we lost to State and we had USuCk the week after. It was a classic trap game.
Different situation this year. Different team this year.

I thought the UGA game was the big one. Many on here called for double digit win. I was just looking for a W but knew with a big time national game and the pressure, exposure etc if the tigers could pull it off at home it would result in more confidence for the other big ones
I said if UGA was a W then FSU, USC etc would be won as well and the season would roll into the nat champ game.
I am still on track for a prediction made over the summer. Ohio st will not be in there, too weak a schedule except for Michigan which they may not win anyway. Oregon, Bama have the best track if undefeated, however, if one slips Clemson slides in as long as no losses pop up. An undefeated Clemson team will not be left out of the nat champ game. This is one of the few years that can be stated as fact. UGA is rarely on the schedule and USC is rarely this highly ranked

No they shouldnt. Dabo lost a few games he shouldnt have, but the "Same Old Clemson" mainly came from 2004 when we got the nation's attention by knocking off highly ranked Miami then we lost to Duke the next week. Then there were the losses to Wake and such that added on to that.
Coach Swinney has us on an upward trend and while we will lose games here and there and we will be upset again one day... the yearly big unexplainable loss that you can set your watch by.. those days are gone for now.

I agree it has been awhile. Showed flashes lately, especially the LSU game. But, I'm old enough to remember us beating Notre Dame at Notre Dame in 1979 and the Danny Ford days of the National Championship and beating Georgia and the Chickens. Let's hope we can keep the coaching staff here and really compete for new recruits in the future. Those are obviously keys.

Yea, in the 80's I never heard of "pulling a Clemson"!

We certainly did not win them all, but I never remember thinking we would lose. Always expected to win, and never feared an upset. They happened but not often, and we are getting there again........I hope.

We lost 1 game per year that we "shouldn't" have lost under Danny, too. (except for 1981)
There just wasn't near the level of media scrutiny that there is now a days.
I heard (i wasn't alive yet) that most people didn't even know where Clemson was in 1981. Most people being sports media, other teams, people from around the US, etc.

No, but in order for outsiders to drop "pulling a Clemson"

We need to continue with the trend that we started last season of not dropping any games to scrub teams.
Bowden is the one who gave us that reputation, and Swinney is improving, but even the Swinney teams have had their moments. Everyone likes to talk about that Duke game in 2004, but everyone seems to forget Maryland in 2009, which was equally embarrassing. That 2009 Clemson team won the Atlantic division, but lost to a 2-10 Maryland team, 24-21. Maryland's only other win that year was against James Madison, 38-35.
In 2011 we went up to NC State ranked in the top 10 and not only lost, but got destroyed by an unranked NC State team. We did already have the Atlantic clinched when we played in Raleigh two years ago, but still, no excuse.
Last year we did not suffer any embarrassing major upsets, and hopefully that trend will continue.

True, and as much as we hate losing to the coots, I don't think that an outsider would consider that game a major upset, such as some of the losses we have suffered in previous years. Both teams had similar records, and I don't remember what the line was, but chances are if we had been playing in Columbia we would have been the underdogs.

Thanksgiving dinners we had two tables- 1 for the adults

and one foldout for the kids. Carolina has always been seated at the kids table and, on a rare occasion, one of the kids sat at the grown-ups' table until mom or dad returned to put them back in their rightful seat. Somehow, this pesky kid continues to sit at the wrong table and at some point will require a sharp backhand across his forehead. This obnoxious kid will have deserved what would otherwise be called child abuse and, in fact, be endorsed by the other adults at the table.

West and Bowden - and had almost bought in to Bowden's regime until he threw Jad under the bus. Since mid-season's defensive turnaround I felt this is finally it. Only thing left was for all to buy in and LSU UGA answered that. The Sleeping Giant is awake my friends.
