DJU reminds me of Tajh Boyd

Mediocre QB.
Except Tajh had weapons all over the field he could get the ball to.
DJU doesn't have that. O-line is bad and DJU isn't fast enough to scramble and move the pocket even if he is 30 lbs down.
WR's are dropping catches that hit them square in the hands. They are having trouble getting open.

Agree. Enjoy the win. But i would take Tajh over DJ. And i am afraid zDJ can’t take us to a Natty. Not accurate enough, not mobile enough, not quick minded enough. Hope i am proven wrong.

I would take Boyd immediately if we are trading. He threw a gorgeous deep ball.

if you take away the ones he was purposefully throwing out of bounds.
It was the outs and the RB bubbles that he had trouble completing. But not because he didn't hit them in the hands.

DJ stared down every receiver last night. I knew where the ball was going all the way from my couch in NC.
GT sucks, it that was a team with a pulse then probably different story this morning.

On the play that DJ pumped to the WR wide right at the line of scrimmage, then looked downfield for a deep opportunity, then came back and completed the pass to the short receiver he had initially pump-faked to, who was he staring down???
Some of y’all are just seeing what you want to see and repeating the same narrative. But I guess this is what people do on social media….

Based on what we've seen so far, they're not even close. Tajh was an elite passer. He was a Clemson great. He threw great passes and could attack teams vertically. He wasn't super mobile, but I'd say he was better moving in the pocket than DJ. I do think DJ has the talent level to be an NFL quarterback, but he will never succeed in Streeter's system (I think Dabo, Elliott, and Streeter have shown they're incapable of scheming around their actual players and they need to be plug and play - why we're running it 11 times with a guy who can't break 5.2 40 time is baffling to me).

Also ACC History.
He's third in career passing yards, behind Philip Rivers and Kenny Pickett (both of which were four-year starters), with one fewer season than both. He has the 6th, 10th, and 12th highest single season passing yard totals.
His best ACC record is career passing TD's. He's #1 with 107, and that's likely an unbeatable record. Rivers is second with 95 (12 fewer TD's even though he played a full season more than Tajh as a starter), Sam Howell is third with 92, and then Trevor and Deshaun are tied for fourth with 90 TD passes each.
He led the conference in passing TD's in both 2011 and 2012, and managed to win the ACC POY and was first-team All-American in 2012. Homeboy is not just a Clemson legend, but easily a top 10 QB in ACC history as well, at least statistically.

Lmao. This guy is a complete moron in the politics posts and even more dumb when it comes to football.
Tajh Boyd was a stud at Clemson. In his first year he threw 33 TD and 12 picks. DJ might build up to Tajh's level, but right now it isn't even close

DJ is not the player for our offense. He is a pocket passer. That is not the scheme that we run. He is not a threat to run the ball. Without that our offense does not function.

Only comparison is Tahj would get the big eyes and let things get to his head. DJ seems to not be able to zone out and focus on the game. Not sure why but it’s true. When he moved fast and didn’t have time to think his performance went waaaaay up

Tajh was accurate when he had time. Dj forgets his technique randomly. Most bizarre qb I've ever seen at Clemson. Probably the strongest arm we've ever seen but horribly inconsistent.

More than Boyd. Similar skill set. Ginormous arm but not a great fit for what's being done. Course Sapp went on to play lb and have a career in the league.

Totally disagree with this comparison. Tadj Boyd is one of the reasons Clemson FB came to life. He was a heck of a runner also. Don't compare TB10 to anyone . HE WAS UNIQUE AND GOOD!

Dude, Tajh Boyd was a really, really good QB. IMHO he was the QB who broke Clemson through, who put Clemson in position as a program to challenge for national titles. He beat LSU. He beat Ohio State. Clemson wasn't living in that kind of hallowed territory until Tajh. His deep ball was probably the best we've ever had at Clemson...yes, better than Deshaun's, better than Trevor Lawrence's.
Yeah, Tajh struggled with his timing and accuracy on the intermediate-range stuff, and he was pretty much a two-read QB...he'd either bomb it or check it down, and if that wasn't there, he'd pull it down and make like a fullback. All that cost him in the NFL. But what he did, Tajh did exceptionally well, and he beat some huge teams and won some huge games for us. The guy was a winner, a leader, and a ferocious competitor, and he owns a bunch of ACC and Clemson records. He got all the way to fifth, if memory serves, in Heisman voting, and that was well-earned, IMHO.
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/tajh-boyd-1.html
Contrast that with what DJU has done...well. Statistically it's not remotely close.

I think the o-line piece hits the nail on the head. Clemson's offensive line has always trailed the skill of the defense and skill players. Some years it has been pitiful and we came out with one or two losses. Clemson has been fortunate to have QBs that could withstand it.
Boyd did with his legs, size, and floating the deep ball with great receiving core (and that Renfrow kid who would not go away). Watson probably had the best group of receivers as a whole and was precise with mobility and a quick release. TL was just skilled in so many aspects, tall and saw the field well, and could run when needed. Also had some experience leftover at receiver and a great running back to take the pressure off of him.
I think DJ could be great, how the Clemson offense is built just doesn't allow him enough time and the best play last night (near sack - completion) is the type of quick decision making he needs to have every play, although it was more lucky than quick. But he processed it and made the decision in time.
If the line was more solid, I think he would be a star. This is why he probably will not survive the rest of the year as a starter. Hope I'm wrong, would love for him to clean it up, win the natty and leave an anticipated handover for next year.

Tajh reacted negatively when things didn't go his way.
Sep 6, 2022, 8:45 PM

I met his cousin in an Autozone parking lot in Cleveland, TN. We were both wearing Clemons caps and struck up a conversation. That was the late summer before Tajh's first year on the team. He told me about Tajh's inability to shake off a bad play and move on and it manifested several times his first year starting.
Tajh was tough, he was strong and could break a tackle. DJ trips over his own feet. Tajh could hit a receiver coming across the field. DJ throws where that receiver is at the time and the pass goes behind the target. He'd never be able to shoot a duck unless it was tied down.
Tajh would have gotten us in the playoff last season because he was a true passing and running threat. DJ is little of either.
They are exactly alike in that neither will every play a down in NFL football. I thought Tajh might change positions or get a practice squad job but I was wrong.

Unfortunately DJ ONLY reminds me of Tajh v Clowney/Spurrier and Gamecocks since he left south bend
Writing on wall; Dabo goodness requires him to ensure all have time to read and digest.
Absent miraculous transformation, Cade’s energetic presence will be relied upon for title runs.
