Did West Virginia become ...

the darling of the CFB media experts (x is an unknown quantity & a spurt is a drip under pressure) just by putting up 70 against us? Last night Dari Noka (forgive my spelling) picked WVU to win the National Championship and Geno Smith to win the Heisman. What color kool-ade do you have to drink to reach that conclusion.

Now you want to talk about a bipolar team?

West Virginia fits the definition. Look at them the past decade. So many good wins, so many bad losses. They should've dominated the Big East but never could. They had way too many games like last year where out of the blue they'd get hammered by Syracuse. Now the conference gets tougher. Good luck to them!

They've won or shared the Big East title 5 times in the 8 seasons with three BCS bowl game wins. Their three BCS game wins were over Oklahoma, Georgia, and Clemson. They've managed to do this under three different head coaches.
WVU is also 5-2 in their last 7 bowl games and 5-2 against Pitt. Their non-conference schedule has included Maryland, ECU, LSU, Colorado, Auburn, Notre Dame, and Miss State.
We have nothing to look down our nose at when it comes to WV.

your argument. The fact is they only won it outright 1 time when they were heavily favored most years. How many seasons can you name where they don't have bad losses? They even had a shot at a national title if it wasn't for those bad losses creeping on them.
I never once said they were a bad program, I said they were bipolar. I said they never dominated the Big East and they didn't. They were near the top, they shared some gold, but they NEVER dominated that conference. I said they have bad losses every year and they do. Show me where they don't?
It's also odd when in trying to bolster WVU you just added to my point by mentioning Pitt, ECU, Colorado (bad losses).

I think we have the higher ceiling, but we haven't even sniffed a BCS bowl game until last year.

they are better off in the big 12 from a money standpoint and being able to get in a playoff game than they were in the big east. i think they will be competitive in that conference because only a few teams in it play decent defense.i think they whip texas this year. i really belive they will surprize people because they can score with anyone.

situation in the Big 12 and I can't be sure about the playoff thing until everything shakes out and we see where each conference stands. I'm pretty much in a holding pattern on opinion there.
As for competitiveness, I also have no doubts they will be very competitive in the Big 12 and I think they can play with anyone there. Wasn't my point though.

I don't know why we would root against them. The better they do the better for us. I'd rather get stomped by a team that can beat OU and UT than be mediocre in a new conference.
At least WVU won the Orange Bowl and people are talking them up, unlike some folks around here- trying to hype a team that lost 4 of its last 6.

WVa ended about as good as you could. Domination is an understatement. Geno Smith looked unbelievable.
I don't see them as a Title contender, but I could see them as being a bigger "darkhorse" team than Clemson.

Putting the starters back in when the game was safely in hand just to put some more points on the board is going to come back around. Being pissed about the snub from the ACC isn't a good excuse. I see OSU or Texas Tech piling on this season or next to teach Dana a lesson.

so, you're saying that putting up 70 on CU isn't a big deal? I'd take it as a compliment that national media folks think WVU has arrived because they scored a lot on CU.
What's the alternative? You'd rather they decided that WVU scoring 70 on CU was nothing special? That seems insulting.

The OP wrote, "Last night Dari Noka...picked WVU to win the National Championship and Geno Smith to win the Heisman. What color Kool-Aid do you have to drink to reach that conclusion?"
They scored 70 points on us and its an exageration, yet we get blown out and talk about winning championships all the time. I do think our team--great coaches and top talent--will win a NC soon, but I'm not going to put down a team that made us look like the JV squad.
Go Tigers!
