what's the highest pick we have ever had? Beer is almost certainly a top 5 lock right?

Possibly, but 1st overall picks usually seem to be "up the middle" guys, so like Catcher, shortstop, pitcher, outfield (usually potential center fielders), guys that play the most important roles in building a solid team. I honestly don't see him as a first baseman at the next level even if that's where he stays in college. He'll be a 1st round lock, probably a top 10 pick lock if he stays healthy and keeps swinging the bat the way he did this year. But you never know who's coming out, there's always a couple hot shot HS pitchers who throw gas who contend for the top spot every year.
Kris Benson was the #1 overall pick in 1996 with Billy Koch going #4 in the same draft.

Unless a can't miss pitching prospect jumps up from out of nowhere, I don't see how he isn't #1 overall.

I think absolutely! He has the best bat I have ever seen in college! I think he will be better at 1st Base than in Right Field. He struggled to pick up balls. So, now I think he will be a better fielder on top of his bat!

He is certainly on a track to being a very high draft pick. But there's a whole lot that can happen. No one is a lock.

Beer is always the #1 pick

as for Seth...no way to know. MLB draft doesn't always follow logic or track results on the field. Its all about projection to the show, and that is sometimes 3-5 years down the road. Its not as clear cut as the NBA and NFL where a top draft pick is designed to fix a need immediately. Look at the Braves. They have more pitching prospects in the minors than almost anyone. They took a pitcher in the 1st round and about 25 total.

Not to mention that the money is different. Teams have an allotted bonus pool and will sometimes avoid drafting a player who will demand a high bonus to make sure they can sign their other picks.

Depends.....

He struggled at the end of the season because teams learned they could beat him inside. His swing is still a little long, and it will be interesting to see how he adjusts. But the talent is there, the upside is there and the pop is there. But has two years to prove it.

I think he could be #1. Very special hitter....however...keep in mind that Florida fans were having this exact same conversation about JJ Schwarz last year after his freshman 18 HR season...plenty of time left, but I say yes.

Inside did give him problems. When he started looking for the inside pitch he started rolling over on them. He hit em solid but usually to 1B. I think earlier in the year he looked to go opposite field with power more than the 2nd half. He beat the shift but didn't hit with power to LC/LF like he was early.
As to being the 1st overall pick...it all depends on who is there at 1 and needs. A HS OF went 1-1 this year. I'll be surprised if he gets past 5 though.
