Clarification on the inbounds play for morons...

Feb 15, 2014, 5:12 PM

Roper wasn't the first option on the play. We were curling a screen, then fading Roper off a backscreen. There was another curl coming after Roper faded, but the pass had already been thrown.

1. The fade is designed to be caught just a foot or so beyond the 3 point line. The pass floated and UVA did a good job of pushing Roper further out.

2. Roper made the decision to pull the trigger, and it wasn't a good one. The fact that he caught it that far out is not all bad. We had possession, and we could have gotten a better one, but it would have been with much less time left.

I feel like BB told them we wanted to get a quick look off the inbound. That would give us time for an offensive rebound, or to foul in needed. That is contingent on being able to catch the inbound in a good shooting position off a screen. Roper took the shot early, but it was ill-advised b/c of how far he faded.

So for you morons, we didn't draw up Roper catching the fade screen 30 ft. away and firing it up.

I wish they had gone to Ajukwa, he felt it.

Ok, you referenced Roper several times and the decision he made to do the one thing he was put invthe game with 12 seconds left. Ok, now Roper played a total of how many minutes duting this game? Last checking out of the game with 5 plus minutes left in the game. Harrison had played most of the game. Ajukwa played the other portion of the game. Both hitting shots and warm. Our Coach, takes a player off the bench cold he takes a really bad pass to do what? Im assuming he was supposed to anticipate the bad pass, the position on the floor he was lead to? Did you notice how their player caught passes in position to shoot? Wouldnt your last pass set the shooter up? The real question you have to ask is this, when Roper came off the first play, did you notice 3 of Virginias players shaded towards Roper? But with all of your shooters sitting on the bench. Easy to figure out where the ball was going. After all, who is your 3rd leading scorer and played 9 minutes. Tired of watching this team play not to lose. Do you feel it. No wins down te stretch with a uncertain line up to have a rythm and flow. Identity of who can do what. You know team concepts.
