Can someone explain the way the B12 does revenue sharing?

May 20, 2012, 12:12 AM

When we join, are we going to get some kind of scaled type deal similar to what TCU is getting? Link.

I know last year when Mizzou and A&M left, it was mostly due to Texas and revenue sharing issues and so the Big XII agreed to a more fair setup...but Texas still has the LHN, so how does that work?

On another note, it's unsettling that we're trading UNC for Texas. Don't you guys think Texas is just as bad, if not worse? UNC's fan base smugness level might be a bit worse, but UT fans have an entitlement complex. I mean I suppose you can't blame them, after all they are a massive institution with a ginormous alumni base. I understand we have to make a move and the ACC is a sinking ship, it's just unfortunate. The B1G, PAC and SEC all seem a bit more balanced, power wise.

Everything is bigger in Texas, especially ego and entitlement.

First of all A&M left the Big12 because they couldn't handle being little brother. Misery left because they need someone to think they are relevant. In the Big12 tier 1 & 2 rights are shared equally while 3rd tier rights are each schools own. Granted Texas made a deal with espn which will generate about 15 mill a year but other schools do well with 3rd tier rights as well. Kansas makes about 9 mil a year on theirs while Oklahoma is working a deal like Texas has that will generate about 10 mil a year.

The first two question are valid concerns.

I think you know the answer to the first though.

I don't think Clemson will settle for a graduated scale like the four little football programs did. Clemson's fan base is almost 2 million and ranked # 10 overall which should give us the clout for full membership revenues day one.

We'll have a blast hating Texas fans.
