Does anyone know how they go about ranking this year recruiting class, Rivals does not have Clemson ranked in the top 25, and some of the teams ahead of Clemson, I feel should not be there. When do the final player rankings by Rivals come out?

Rivals, I believe, does it by star count

Meaning a team with 15 2-stars is above a team with 7 4-stars

i think this is the most recent form.; i believe they work on a point total vs say "avg stars" to rank. number of recruits would be a big driver this way.
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=880&CID=1364602
What is the formula?
See below! Go ahead and use it! Who is your team's next commitment? How many points does he count for? Go ahead and start the debate!
Rivals Rating points + Rivals250 Bonus Points = Total Points
Rivals Rating (RR) Scale (Top 20 rated commitments)
(Rivals Rating = Points)
6.1 = 150 points 6.0 = 135 points 5.9 = 120 points 5.8 = 105 points 5.7 = 90 points 5.6 = 75 points 5.5 = 60 points 5.4 = 45 points 5.3 = 30 points 5.2 = 15 points
*Prospects without an assigned rating will count for no points. All FBS committed prospects will have a rating once evaluated and rankings are updated.
Rivals 250 Bonus Scale (all commitments)
#1= 100 points #2= 83 points #3= 82 points #4= 81 points #5= 80 points #6= 76 points #7= 75 points #8= 74 points #9= 73 points #10= 72 points #11= 69 points #12= 68 points #13= 67 points #14= 66 points #15= 65 points #16= 64 points #17= 63 points #18= 62 points #19= 61 points #20= 60 points #21= 59 points #22= 58 points #23= 57 points #24= 56 points #25= 55 points
#26-30= 53 points #31-35= 51 points #36-40= 49 points #41-45= 47 points #46-50= 45 points #51-55= 43 points #56-60= 41 points
#61-65= 40 points #66-70= 39 points #71-75= 38 points #76-80= 37 points #81-85= 36 points #86-90= 35 points #91-95= 34 points #96-100= 33 points
#101-105= 32 points #106-110= 31 points #111-115= 30 points #116-120= 29 points #121-125= 28 points #126-130= 27 points #131-135= 26 points #136-140= 25 points #141-145= 24 points #146-150= 23 points #151-155= 22 points #156-160= 21 points #161-165= 20 points #166-170= 19 points #171-175= 18 points #176-180= 17 points #181-185= 16 points #186-190= 15 points #191-195= 14 points #196-200= 13 points #201-205= 12 points #206-210= 11 points #211-215= 10 points #216-220= 9 points #221-225= 8 points #226-230= 7 points #231-235= 6 points #236-240= 5 points #241-245= 4 points #246-250= 3 points
Why did Rivals.com change the rankings formula?
We wanted a formula that was easy for everyone to use, most importantly our subscribers!
The past formula, though it worked as intended, was very complex, and didn't provide our subscribers a simple way of calculating their team's point totals, and class ranking, if a certain prospect committed to their school.
So starting with the class of 2013, we made some changes, using the point scales above.
Any tips on how to use the new formula?
To calculate the Rivals Rating points, go to your team's commitment list, sort the list by Rivals Rating, starting with the highest value. Then, sum up the points for the top 20 commitments using the scale above.
To calculate the Rivals250 bonus points, go to the Rivals250 page. You can also sort this list by "school" to calculate your team's Rivals250 bonus points, using the scale above.
What are the similarities between the new formula and the old formula?
One major similarity- only the top 20 commitments in each class are considered in the main variable of the formula. Both have bonuses for players ranked nationally, but the new formula accounts for the Rivals250. The old formula had bonuses for the Rivals100.
What is different about the new formula?
Unlike the old formula, the new formula uses a prospect's Rivals Rating (RR), not the prospect's star rating, as the key factor in the formula to compute the point totals.
The main part of the formula is now a point scale reflecting the average Rivals Rating of a team's top 20 signees.
The second part of the formula is a bonus point scale for prospects ranked in the Rivals250. This applies to all commitments in a team's class.
JUCO and Prep School national rankings do not have bonuses. Only those prospect's RR rating will be considered in the point calculation.
Note: The new formula will apply to the class of 2013 and beyond. Past team rankings will remain in place, according to the previous formula

Going by that scale
Lawson 233 points Adams 213 Alexander 184 Crowder 142
So even if we only get the players we are leaders for right now Adams & Crowder we would move up to #13 in rivals rankings.

They should be out soon, but the biggest thing right now is numbers. Clemson only has 15 commits but 7 of them are 4* players. That puts us at about 15 when you rank them by average player rating. As we saw when Jenkins decommitted the difference between #15 and #30 is not that great and if we land another 4* player we will jump up to the 15-20 range. Clemson is looking to finish strong with a lot of 4/5* players. That combined with the number of players we are looking to add will put us close to the top 10 if not firmly in the 5-10 range.
Also keep an eye out for Boulware to get his 4th star.

for players yet????
hopefully he does. I've always liked rivals recruiting star rankings better than Scout (seems to rank players too low).......or ESPN (seems to rank players too high)
Rivals has always been a "happy medium"

Rivals latest rankings updates were early December after the high school season ended. They will do one more update now that All Star season is over. Boulware really impressed in all star practice and should move up.
I do usually trust Rivals rankings the most but ESPN's are the most important now. They are the service that broadcast them on TV for 24 hours straight and give you the most publicity. Good news is they have us ranking #13 without all the guys we are planning to close with. Hopefully we will bring home another nationally recognized top 10 class.

ESPN had clemson #1 or #2 in 2008 Rivals had clemson #11 or #12 Scout had clemson #15ish
to this day IMO Rivals is the best, but like whatweeatin said........the best for publicity is probably ESPN just because they play it all day on NSD for people to see
i still like rivals the best

You are right that is always true. Fortunately it is also correct in this situation. Whats the saying? Perception is reality. The perception is ESPN knows everything.....

Anyone have access to rivals recruiting board? They have the final Rivals 100 schedule posted on the message board.
