Piling on the 3man rush

On an obvious passing down, this seems to requires a line backing core that can run.

Is it just me or does it seem like Trotter and Carter are a half a step slower this year?

I don’t keep up with it too much, but did they put on NFL middle linebacker mass?

neither one seems to flow sideline to sideline like I remember last year.

Carter showed incredible pass coverage in the FSU game. He looked like a DB out there that day.

Trotter nursed a hamstring in camp, might still be an issue.

Even slight strains, tightness can take months to get right.

firing off last second to blitz then I say "oh crap, this aint good..." and i'm usually correct. Duke did it the other night on the 4th and 16 by ND and its why they got beat. I just don't get it when these coaches get cute with their playcalling. Keep doing what you're doing if its working. And soft coverage is just giving the QB time to wait or scramble to find the break down. If anything rush and extra guy or two and force the QB to make a quick accurate decision.

El Tige 1: You are so right. When your defense has played lights out in certain alignments why change what is working. Clemson does this a lot and we get beat.

Trotter Has Tackled Poorly This Season

So Far. He misses a lot because he’s coming in like a Heat Seeking Missile and not Breaking down in a position to get someone on the Ground. His Fundamentals are lacking (so are many others). Also, at times he tries to Sling Ball Carriers to the Ground.

He seems to be a pretty good pass defender when he drops into zone coverage though.

Completely Agree! He and Carter are very good in Coverage.
