How?

Oct 3, 2012, 10:31 PM

For being more liberal on social issues than Obama?

He wants to end the Patriot Act
Support same sex marriage
Legalize marijuana
End the National Defense Authorization Act
End the war in Afghanistan

And thank you for saying that. Knowing you dislike Johnson just got him a lot more votes from tigernet posters

Oh yay. A Libertarian (whatever that means), who despite knowing his candidate will NEVER win, tries to interject on actual political discussions.

We've never seen this before.

ignorant and dismissive

How's that working out for ya?

Great. Thank you for asking.

How's your political cause working out for you?

Oh, that's right. It's not.

I win no matter what.

If we don't balance the budget TODAY, and control our spending there will be anarchy in the streets. So even if we don't elect Gary Johnson, the coming collapse of the dollar means we'll live in a country more free than even the most ardent Libertarian supports.

It takes courage and principles to support a third party.

Oct 3, 2012, 10:51 PM [ in reply to Re: ignorant and dismissive ]

Whether or not a third party finds mainstream success doesn't detract from the value of their insights. Libertarians like Johnson want smaller government, fewer wars, and real meaningful freedoms that are protected by the government, not trampled by it.

It's a shame that everyone is expected to fit into one of two parties that quite frankly govern very similarly.

I said in another thread that I'm essentially the epitome of a hippy Libertarian.

But when push comes to shove, I can't just sit out of the political process while everyone else participates. The fact of the matter is...until the party/ideology becomes more mainstream...any vote that's cast is a wasted one.

I'm just not one to get on my high-horse and abstain from voting for a candidate in pursuit of self-righteous political fulfillment.

The only wasted vote is for a candidate you don't believe in***

Technically, the wasted vote is for the candidate that ends up with something like 12% of the popular vote. Or even --- a wasted vote is when you vote for someone who doesn't win.

But that's a whole philosophical discussion I'm not in the mood to have.
