Only problem I have with the legacy schollys

Jan 22, 2016, 8:27 AM

Is most of the time their Dad is wealthy enough to pay their way. Id like to see that money go to someone who couldnt afford to go to school without the scholly. If that Legacys dad didnt make millions in the NFL or have a high ranking job at the university, sure drop him a scholly. Those that can afford it should just walk on.

the mommas and daddies are not in the locker room. it is like a badge of honor to be on ship no matter how rich your parents are. makes them feel like more part of the team. i am quite sure huegals and renfrows parents could afford tuition for their kids but did you see the kids and teams reaction when they were put on ship this spring. it was a great scene.

They would probably feel the same way if a John

Doe or bubba jack earned a scholie. Especially if they were fRom south podunk.

I agree with the assessment..if you can afford to pay, then pay. Give some other kid who has no other means a chance at an education. . But that is really on the parents. They could say , " thanks but we can afford it. Give the scholie to some one else. "

There is some hypocrisy in that statement though. I should be able to pay my kids college expenses if everything goes as planned. But, if by some miracle my kids earn scholarships you better believe they are going to accept them so I can retire earlier.

I got no problems with the way dabo recruits.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

This is a football program, not a charity.

I find it kind of ridiculous people are talking bad about legacy Scholarships.

Dabo is the head coach of a top tier football program. Just as expected after one year of taking Clemson to the CFP, the fan base now expects us to only recruit 4-5 star players and make it to the CFP every season.

Dabo is a successful person for a reason. He is not going to risk his job by handing out scholarships to undeserving players.

If a player is good enough to ball at Clemson, being a legacy should not discredit their skills and talent.

Also if a player works hard enough to be able to earn a scholarship, their parents income should not effect whether they get a scholarship.

If I were a Clemson legacy and rich enough to pay tuition...

for my son, I would have been proud of my son as well as myself. I would have felt grateful over how my school still appreciates what I did in the past and would have felt this is a school that has a family atmosphere. I would have felt that it'd give confidence to the potential new legacies that you won't ever be forgotten.

After that, I would have donated much much more than my son's tuition to Clemson. I would have tried my best to give it back every way I could to bring the success to the program.

That's just me and I'm not a legacy.

Dabo is a very very smart man.
