big difference in the DUI laws back then.. and the way cops treated drunk drivers... pre-MADD

I have done a lot of stupid things and had my fair share of booze but can honestly say that in 35+ years of drinking and driving I have NEVER combined the two. To do so is criminal and not just being one of the boys.
I am not saying I can't forgive those that have (and I have done so) but it is still fitting of a harsh penalty.

jaywalking, occasionally running a red light, but mostly speeding.
I didn't drink alcohol until I was 21, I have never done drugs, and I have never even been close to drinking and driving.
At least my glass is pretty thick.
