Big XII or ACC

My initial reaction to being in the Big XII was that we would be out of place and that the schedule would be about as exciting as the one we typically have now. But when I compare possible schedules game by game, the Big XII schedule always looks more interesting. Here is this year's schedule v. a possible Big XII schedule (assuming Fl.State joins too). I'm still not completely sold on a move to the Big XII, but i'm getting closer.
Now (BIG XII Opponent) [Preference]
09/01 Auburn
09/08 Ball St. 09/15 Furman
09/22 @Florida St
09/29 @Boston College (@Texas Tech) [Big XII]
10/06 Georgia Tech (Oklahoma) [Tie]
10/13 Open Date
10/20 Virginia Tech (Kansas) [ACC]
10/25 @Wake Forest (@West Virginia) [Big XII]
11/03 @Duke (@Baylor) [Draw]
11/10 Maryland (Texas) [Big XII]
11/17 NC State (Iowa State) [ACC]
11/24 South Carolina

The fact that we'll make almost twice as much money is enough for me.
Thanks for putting this together, though. Looks pretty interesting.
My biggest concern is the length of travel for our players and fans. Looks like a lot of long road trips in our futures.

Big XII might be more money but I hope we stay in the ACC for selfish reasons. Gone would be the days oy taking the family to an away game - a 3 or 4 hour trip for $250 bucks or so.
Now it would cost $2,500. Airplane tickets for 4, motel, rental car, food, tickets. I think we would lose a little something.

CU and FSU both leave i could see others join the exodus...maybe not the first year. If CU and FSU leave others will be knocking on the BigXII door. GT,VT, Miami, NC St.. That would alleviate travel concerns.

I never thought aTm would get away from Texas but it happened. The only negative about it was that they may never play again. If they want to leave, I'm sure they will find someway in doing it.

The thing is once those grant of rights are signed (which ESPN will want with the new TV deal) you are more or less locked in for good

It is for what is best for Clemson, and not for personal weekends with the family. I know you said No to the Big X11 for selfish reasons. And I do appreciate your honesty BUT, I hope you have to pick from a camping trip with the family. Maybe a weekend at the Beach or the lake. There are plenty of family things you can do without watching Clemson go down the tubes in a broke Basketball conference. Don't forget to pack plenty of sun screen for the kids on your Beach or Lake trips. Because I'm praying that we bust the Big X11 wide open. GOOOOOO TIGERSSSSSS!!!

This is the type of comparison that is the hardest for me (and a few other people i've talked to) to make. Yes, in the average season it's likely that Oklahoma would be a higher ranked team and we would get more national exposure for playing them, but we have so much tradition and so many close games with Georgia Tech. Hard to imagine just throwing that away. Plus GT is around 120 miles from Clemson (and half-filled with Clemson fans when we play there); Oklahoma is right around 1,000.

Those schools are too far away ....

A better answer is to make ACC Football better overall ... maybe the "academic thing" gets in the way. You DO KNOW Clemson is a LOT more prestigious then those schools you mention?

Just going by your schedule, the ACC would be my preference. Does anyone know The Tigers record against Big 12 opponents? My instinct tells me it is not so good. After winning 1 ACC championship in the last 20 years, how do we suddenly go to competing for the Big 12? If we do go, The ACC will probably become a dominant football conference and will be stuck in the Big 12. Be patient people.

The ACC has a little ways to go before becoming a dominate football conference.
