nothing wrong with that hit. That was just good defensive football IMO. They are ruining college football now too.

spurrier and i don't like SCar but i have developed and great interest in Rugby (the game American football evolved from) and the more they do junk like this the more i want to turn the channel over to REAL football.

The hit was legal until he dipped his head and left his feet. No one teaches players to tackle that way. Keep your footing keep your eyes on the player and wrap up. If you stick to the fundamentals of the game you wouldn't get into this situation.

I thought it was a cheap shot. It does not weaken football by making it a penalty for intentionally trying to hit someone in the head. He could have used his shoulder and did not have to jump into the head

The fact that he stood over and taunted the guy he hit

did not help him make his case. Nor did the fact that he was involved in shoving later in the game.
This is the same player that interfered with the Vanderbilt receiver.
This is not about the pansification of football. It is about a thug and a coach who encourages it.
Just like Spurrier's regard for the health of this QB, he apparently takes the same regard for morals and the future of his players.
Swearingen will probably move on without graduating, end up playing 2-3 years in the NFL before being hurt or suspended, spend what $s he makes and then live out his days in ruin. That is what Spurrier and USuC are "teaching" these guys and it makes me sick.

in the other!! It was made even more amazing by the fact he had just put his calculator away that he had been using to figure out the exact moment and trajectory for optimal impact for which to kill, punch, and stab the WR.
Good grief.
Tigernet... still a trip after all these years.

The fact he launched himself is what cost him. It is clear on the video he elevated to make the hit. If he stays on the ground there is no issue. That is the difference between the Vandy hit on the TE.
On a different note, I think he may have a concussion based on his glamour shot post.

sec will fine a coach when he publicly questions the officiating...looks like swearinger is not only questioning the officiating but also the league front office...
I'd be funny if they sit him another game...

in spurrier's excuse for a brain, there's probably an image of a halo above his player's heads, and of course he probably see's horns underneath our player's helmets.

I read that he had tweeted after the game either a picture or a video and said "my big hit". When he found out he was suspended he took it down.
