Napier to FSU as TE and Recruiting Coordinator

Jan 14, 2013, 6:10 PM

According to Palm Beach Post

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher completes staff by adding Billy Napier and Randy Sanders

by Tom D'Angelo
Jimbo Fisher has filled the final two openings in his staff, according to several reports.
The final two hires were on the offensive side where Billy Napier takes over has the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator and Randy Sanders will coach running backs.

Napier, 33, coached quarterbacks at Colorado State for one year after spending a year at Alabama as the offensive quality control assistant. He becomes the tight ends coach at FSU with OC James Coley switching from tight ends coach to coach QBs. Napier was Clemson’s OC for two seasons. He was just 29 when he was elevated at Clemson in 2009, the youngest person to hold that position in the school’s history.
Sanders, 47, spent the last seven years at Kentucky, starting as the QB coach and adding offensive coordinator to his duties in 2009. He coached at his alma mater, Tennessee, for 17 seasons, including the last seven as the offensive coordinator. Sanders also was the recruiting coordinator for six years at Tennessee and one at Kentucky.
So the long process that started about six weeks ago when Mark Stoops was named the Kentucky coach is over.
Since, five FSU coaches (Stoops, D.J. Eliot, Eddie Gran, Greg Hudson and Dameyune Craig) have departed with Stoops going from DC to a head coach and others advancing to become coordinators. Eliot is the DC at Kentucky, Gran the OC at Cincinnati, Hudson the DC at Purdue and Craig the co-OC at Auburn.
Here is FSU’s new lineup under Fisher:

James Coley: Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks.
Jeremy Pruitt: Defensive coordinator and defensive backs.
Rick Trickett: Offensive line.
Lawrence Dawsey: Wide receivers.
Billy Napier: Tight ends and recruiting coordinator.
Odell Haggins: Defensive tackles.
Charles Kelly: Linebackers and special teams coordinator.
Sal Sunseri: Defensive ends.
Randy Sanders: Running backs.

Not the best news for Clemson

Napier is still a respected guy and knows the ins and outs about Clemson. He could use that to his advantage when recruiting. All I know is we better stay on top of things since we recruit against FSU.
