Anyone know why DJ decided to trash talk the defender while

turning his back to the goal line? Even the commentators questioned that behavior. DJ isn’t a freshman, that’s not Clemson Football. But who knows what trash talking was going on down there. Just didn’t seem like Clemson Junior QB leadership behavior to me.

That same GT player had been in DJs face at least 3 times earlier in the game.
I guess DJ was just giving something back to him.

I have noticed that DJ is criticized for every little thing here. The standard some of you have for him seems to be very different from the one for everyone else.
Christian Wilkins grabs a guy’s sack and most of you thought it was funny and awesome. Yusef Kelly kicked a Gamecock player during a brawl and you loved it. James Skalski takes cheap shots and get ejected, but he’s just a tough competitor. But DJ does this - which is a huge nothing burger - and he’s not becoming of a Clemson student-athlete? Come on.

it’s a sports message board. The whole point is for people to come here and criticize. Sometimes good criticism. Sometimes bad.
One thing I will always criticize about a player is bad sportsmanship. Not saying that’s what my OP was conveying but just questioning it.

He was not trash talking. He looked around because he could not believe no GT defenders laid a hand on him. ?

we don't know what had been said on the field prior to the play. Probably lot's of trash talk the cameras barely noticed. We should let this one go.
Let's see if chirping becomes common with DJ. If so, then I'll pile on the criticism too. But, so far, it's just one play.
P.S: I noticed GaTech defensive players did a lot of talking during the game after plays.

If he said anything it wasn't much. It was more the body language which wasn't all that intentional. I'm surprised the announcers said anything about it.

Almost every time he does something halfway good in the run game he pops up talking trash. I was watching last year's GT game and he did it after a 15 yard run. Two plays later he fumbled. He talked trash last night after an 8 yd run. Next play he can't handle a slightly high snap and we're punting. Next drive he gets the ball punched out for a fumble. Then obviously on the TD run he was talking trash before he was even in the end zone. What gets me is there is no way Dabo would tolerate this kind of behavior from any other player. He would be hollering in their faces. Remember Christian Wilkins' Heisman pose moment? DJ gets treated with kids gloves for whatever reason. I guess they don't want to hurt his fragile confidence.

no other reason than he was not in the end zone when it started), then the coaches will discuss it with him and I highly doubt we would see it again.
One instance…not a trend. TL was not above staring down the opponent. He just did it when the play was over.

I did not like seeing that,. I did like seeing Klubnick showing superior leadership at the LOS. He was focused, communicating with his lineman, and making sure everyone was lineup properly before the snap.
