Not enough can be said about CJ Spiller and the

influence he's had on this program

CJ took a chance on Clemson and the success yesterday can be traced right to

1) Dabo's insistence that we could get CJ to come to Clemson and...

2) CJ willing to be his own man and take a chance on the Tigers

CJ's stamp on this program will be felt for many many years to come.

CJ definitely opened things up for us in FL. I feel like it gave our staff a little more confidence to go out and spend time recruit those high profile players that were constantly being visited by big powerhouse colleges . Also, the fact that he always shows Clemson love and comes back to Clemson every chance he gets speaks volumes. Recruits see that stuff and plays a role in their decision imo

I think it opened up more than Florida. CJ is a national figure and will only get bigger assuming he gets on a team that can use his talents correctly

His visits to Clemson are huge. I saw a picture this morning of him with Ray Ray McCloud which prompted me to write that.

No denying all this is directly attributable to Spiller

But I do wish we'd recognize and give credit to James Davis as well. He was the foundation we built on to get Spiller. Would Lightning have come to Clemson without Thunder already there? Maybe, but I bet it would have been a much harder sell.

Spiller most likely played a part in

Dabo getting the permanent HC job. If CJ hadn't returned for his senior season while openly stating that he wanted to play for DS, it's possible Clemson might have hired someone else at the end of the "interim."

I don't think that influenced the decision to make Dabo HC. That was due to what was seen in Dabo more than anything else and would've happened regardless.
