New year, new layoff season

After our Super mega corp purchase went final last Oct, we've been wondering when it would happen...looks like it started last friday, and will continue through March.
This is the 4th time I've been through this with this company, and its always a stressful time. This is exactly what it feels like every time.

then going back to work for another 24-30 hours kept most of the slackers out of the way.

since last Friday since he and his wife were both laid off from their new company
we are in a hiring freeze so not sure if they are ###### or not, if one of them don't get a job by end of March, they will get kicked out of the country back to India

… that resulted in job elimination. Optimizing return on assets and labor is part management. Silly to politicize 80% of business restructuring albeit political decisions may occasionally and directly impact business environments.

A company with 350K employees bought a company with 15K employees.
They canned our marketing dept friday, and a lot of external contractors. They never give us numbers or even who gets the ax; we normally find out when we need to email or talk to someone that got canned.
There are also some moves possibly happening to get rid of some of our offshore (read India) 3rd party workforce, which ironically could cause some hiring state side.
