NCSU Fun Fact for the day

NCSU has not won an outright or even share of a divisional title in ACC Football, Basketball, or Baseball in 26 years.

You didn't misread. It's not that they have won an ACC title. They have not even won a share of a division in any of those sports since 1992. Well before this kid was born.

Saltiest fan base in the NCAA. Right up there with Tennessee.

Their most successful football coach in the modern era.. Chuck "the chest" Amato used to invite recruits into his hot tub while he smoked cigars.

Those of you that remember Chuck enjoy that image.

But, yes ... NC State has gone through quite a dry spell.

Football hasn’t been really successful since D!ck Sheridan quit, and basketball has been the same way since Valvano was ousted. Of course, their baseball more or less peaked while they had Ray Tanner leading the program.

Sheridan was definitely modern era. I was really just trying to insult the wolfpack as much as possible.

He took the wolfpack to 6 bowl games in 7 years with a record of 2-4. Ouch

that one of the main scandals which finished off Valvano's tenure at NCSU involved some of his players selling university issued shoes to a sporting goods store in Mission Valley shopping center and now unc has numerous athletes accused of doing the exact same thing----I remember how loud and accusatory tarhole fans were during that entire episode. To get away from the gosh-awful publicity, the sporting goods store owner---a Dukie and former Olympic trackster---actually closed that store down.....not to mention all the stuff that eventually happened to State......and now unc is claiming the NCAA is calling their exact same actions as "secondary in nature"
