NCAA needs to implement an early signing period. It would

be so much easier for the kids and the schools both.

You are witnessing the argument against doing so....

Look at how many coaching changes there have been. And I am not in the camp that says the athlete commits to the school, not the coach. That's BS imo. In most cases, the reason the kid is going to the school is because of the coaches.

Well if that's the case then those athletes can sign in the later period. Nobody is forcing these kids to sign during an early signing period. Some will some won't.

And if that was the case then why visit the schools, just have a meeting with the coaches. You attend a school because of the school and the college life it offers, and the most important thing, the education. Not because of one coach, I guess that why you have mature and immature kids. You choose not to go to a school because a coach is leaving, who's to say that want happen at the next school. Plain and simple their not committed!

I didn't meant to imply that the school was not a factor

at all, but in big time athletics when these recruits (including Clemson's) are looking to get to the NFL, the coaches matter more. That's just my opinion. For example, if a kid is a stud defensive player and has the ability to make it to the NFL and his goal is to make it to the NFL, wouldn't he rather go to a place like Bama simply to play under Saban, who is more likely to get his players to the NFL than other coaches around the country?

I understand your point, but what do you do with a kid

who is promised by the coach that he will be there the next year just so the kid commits early. The coach then leaves as there is nothing requiring him to stay or honor his contract or commitment, and the kid is left behind.

i used to think so, but now...

Dec 11, 2012, 7:21 PM

i don't think its fair to the kids. colleges and ncaa rules already exploit these kids, no need to make more rules that are unfair.

Re: Most likely just move the craziness up a few months....

nothing is really going to impact the recruiting shenanigans.
